The adhesive strength during tearing-off testing of coatings has been studied depending on their physico-mechanical and technological parameters. The optimal concentration of two-component polydisperse filler has been established, and an efficient scheme for its complex pretreatment by energy fields has been proposed. Using the results from complete factorial experiment, a mathematical model has been developed for studying the adhesive strength of composite coating, which makes it possible to determine efficient technological conditions and optimal composition, to control performance characteristics of the components with protective coatings at their design and manufacture stage, and to obtain protective coatings with predictable properties. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc. An expression for estimating the affinity of a direct dye for cellulose fiber was obtained taking into account the exothermicity of the process. It is proposed that an electrolyte increases the affinity of a direct dye during dyeing by affecting the solubility of the dye and changes the kinetics of the process by decreasing the activation barrier. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc. The change of the degree of crystallinity of mixed cellulose and the influence of this parameter on the reactivity of cellulose during preparation of soluble cellulose xanthogenate were examined based on an evaluation of the x-ray structure characteristics of samples of native cotton and regenerated cellulose. Formulas for calculating the crystallinity index of mixed celluloses and the NaOH concentration of the mercerizing solution that provided the required level of viscose filterability were proposed. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.
