A new formulation of perturbation theory for a description of the Dirac and scalar fields (the Yukawa model) is suggested. For a main approximation, the self-consistent field model that considers to a certain degree forces caused by interaction of fields is chosen. This approximation leads to a normally ordered form of the interaction Hamiltonian. Generation of fermion mass in the process of interaction with exchange by a scalar boson is investigated. It is demonstrated that for zero bare mass, the fermion can acquire mass only if its coupling constant exceeds the critical value determined by the boson mass. In this regard, the problem of the neutrino mass is discussed. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

The possibility of producing large quantities of iodine isotopes of high purity in internal and external targets of a CV-28 cyclotron in reactions on protons and deuterons is studied. The advantage of using low-energy cyclotrons for such purposes is examined. It is shown that the use of a special technology for preparing targets from tellurium and a method of removing the heat released at a target irradiated by a proton beam will make it possible to produce in the CV-28 a large quantity of iodine isotopes in a relatively short time 1-2 h. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

The program MCNP (Monte Carlo Modeling of radiation transfer) is used to calculate the characteristics of external neutron and γ radiation from a ventilated dry-storage container for spent nuclear fuel. Data are obtained on the spatial, energy, and angular distribution of the neutron and γ-ray flux outside the container and the dependence of the dose rate on the storage time of the spent fuel is determined. It is shown that γ-rays make the main contribution to the dose rate on the side surface of the container and neutrons do on the cover. The computed dose rate is 1.4 times higher than the measured value on an individual loaded container at the Zaporozhie nuclear power plant. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
