Development of a mobile collimated gamma-ray spectrometer is represented for performance of on-site measurements of gamma-radiation energy distributions. Analysis and selection of the detector for a compact spectrometer is performed. Block diagram of the device and block circuits of the charge-sensitive pre-amplifier and amplifier-former are demonstrated with the description of the principles of their operation. Spectrometer was tested in laboratory and in-the-field replacement. ©2015 by Begell House, Inc.

The present-day ecological situation impacted by natural and man-made electromagnetic radiation (EMR) sources and their characteristics is outlined. The medico-biological, hygienic and ecological aspects of e.m. radiation effects both upon human beings and the ecosystem as a whole are discussed. The results of experimental studies into the EMR effects upon medico-biological objects, which have been made at the Institute of plasma electronics and novel acceleration methods, are presented.
