Based on the stress analysis of a point in space, the stress analysis of a point on a surface is performed, then the relationship among the normal stress, the shear stress, the stress component of a point on a surface and the first order partial derivative of the surface equation is deduced. Equilibrium equations of soil columns between the sliding surface and the top surface of the slope are established, which include differential equilibrium equation of force, equilibrium equation of force, and equilibrium equation of moment. These equilibrium equations and Coulomb yield condition can form the fundamental equations of three-dimensional slope stability analysis. Applying the supposition similar to that applied in the simplified Bishop method, a kind of three-dimensional slope analysis method can be obtained. An example is presented to show that the computation method is reasonable and applicable.

With the increase of water depth in marine construction projects, characteristics of large diameter and deep penetration appear in the steel pipe piles used for jacket platform. Because the bearing capacity of piles is improved, constructions of piles become more difficult. It results in the need of hammers with larger blow energy and higher demand for safety in pile driving. The stick-up stability of piles is the first important part in the analysis of pile driving. Considering the transient characteristics of hammer load, a dynamic method is adopted to calculate the wave and current loads, and a dynamic simulation method is proposed to analyze the stick-up stability of pipe piles. The results show that the calculation of stick-up using the API code, which is different from the transient process and considers the long-term effect of load, is conservative. The API code can be used to check the stick-up stability of piles, and the strength reduction factor can be magnified 1.5 times. © 2015, Chinese Society of Civil Engineering. All right reserved.

The cement deep mixing (CDM) pile is a widely-used method for soft ground treatment in Huanghua Port region. However, construction quality problems easily occur. Based on the field inspection results of CDM in Huanghua Port region, two construction quality problems of CDM are systematically analyzed. In order to investigate the causes of construction quality problems, indoor mix proportion tests on three contents of cement under different test periods are conducted to exclude such factors as content of cement and soil texture. Through the comparison of difference between indoor mix proportion tests and field construction of CDM, the field construction technology is pointed out to be the main cause of quality problems. Finally, two effective construction technique improvements of cement deep mixing pile are proposed. The successful application of bidirectional mixing technique in the Huanghua Port region is introduced, and the relevant inspection data is provided for reference. In addition, a fan-shaped back-spraying stirring head is demonstrated to be an effective construction technique to solve the two above construction quality problems. ©, 2015, Yantu Gongcheng Xuebao/Chinese Journal of Geotechnical Engineering.
