As active contours without edges (C-V) model is difficult to segment thyroid ultrasound image with intensity inhomogeneity. Therefore, the improved C-V ultrasound image segmentation model of combining local information is proposed. First, the local information is not affected by the gray distribution. So, through this characteristic, we constructed a new speed function by using local image fitting information. According to the change of local gray level, the speed function can flexibly control curve evolution rate. Then, the speed function was incorporated into the C-V model, and had the ability of global segmentation. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed model can achieve accurate segmentation for thyroid tumor ultrasound image with intensity inhomogeneity. In order to improve the accuracy in thyroid tumor detection, the selection, crossover and mutation operation of genetic idea was introduced into the bat algorithm and a novel registration method of SPECT image and B-type ultrasound image was proposed based on genetic idea bat algorithm. First, according to the common contour characteristic of thyroid and tumor, improved gradient normalized mutual information was used for similarity measurement. Second, the genetic idea bat algorithm was used to optimize the space registration transform parameters. The experimental results show that improved gradient normalized mutual information has high locating accuracy of registration and less local extremum, genetic idea bat algorithm improves the rate and accuracy of convergence of registration. In order to improve the accuracy in thyroid tumor detection, a registration of SPECT image and B-type ultrasound image based on artificial bee colony algorithm is improved. First, NSCT-GCBAC segmentation and KFCM segmentation are used respectively to extract the contours, according to the different characteristics of thyroid SPECT image and B-type ultrasound image from two imaging devices. Second, mutual information is used for similarity measure, and affine transform model is adopted to solve the space transform parameters. Finally, an improved artificial bee colony algorithm is used to optimize the space registration transform parameters. The experimental results show that the method can effectively improve the speed and the effect of registration. Source
