Down hole troublesome, such as shale and coal bed formation swelling, tight hole, caving and pipe-stuck are encountered while drilling in block Mo-116.Through optimization of drilling fluid additives, the compound salt drilling fluid system is developed, with salt-resisting encapsulating agent glass bead and filtrate reducer GRL-1, to meet the demands of the wells with new well-structure (most of the wells are two intervals well to reduce the development cost). The applications show that this drilling fluid system has good performances of inhibition, anti-caving, lubrication and anti-contamination, and the 16 offset wells are drilled safely, as well as the drilling period is reduced by 26.21%.

With drilled depth of 2, 225 m, the Well Jinhe-1 is an exploratory well drilled in the south of Junggar Basin. In accordance with high formation pressure coefficient, high dip angles and loose formation, pipe-sticking caving and lost circulation are the challenges to the drilling operation. To deal with these difficulties, the organic KCl high-density drilling fluid having great inhibition good rheology and excellent anti-caving performance is developed. The field application indicates that this drilling fluid sytem performs well in well borehole stabilization and control of rheology and torque. Using the organic KCl drilling fluid, electric logging, casing running and cementing have all been done smoothly, as well as the drilling cycle is only 110 days.
