The paper presents a mathematical model of the process of broadening during rolling of strips and sheets. A feature of the model is the consideration of the metal flow in two zones of plastic deformation hearth: advancing zone and lag zone. The mathematical model is based on the variational principle of minimum total capacity of rolling (the principle of Jourdain). In accordance with this principle, the metal flow velocities in the plastic deformation hearth should be varying. The velocity of the metal transversal flow in the hearth of deformation is represented as a power function of the transversal coordinate. Three parameters are to be varied: value of total broadening, value of broadening in the lag zone and degree of the dependence of transversal metal flow velocity. These parameters are determined by the Ritz method. Comparison of the results of experiments and the mathematical model showed adequacy.

Regularities of the change of the stress-strain state of coal containing rock masses, depending on mining-geological factors, were revealed. These factors allow establishing rational parameters of anchoring of wall rocks to enhance the stability of development workings. Specific conditions of the deflected mode, displays of rock pressure, terms of maintenance depending on technological parameters are investigated. Researches allowed determining the degree of their development influence on the efficiency of application of the anchoring of the hollow making and will allow a reasonable application of anchoring certificates, provide stability of the rocks mining and reduce expenses on its realization and maintenance. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The deflected mode, rock pressure manifestations, conditions of maintenance of mine workings depending on geological and technological parameters have been studied. Researches have allowed establishing the degree of these parameters impact on the effectiveness of anchoring of mine workings. The paper researches such aspects of the problem as rock pressures, terms of maintenance of mine workings, technological parameters and others. The authors consider the expediency of the introduction of anchor certificates which will allow for stability of the rock mining and a reduction of the expenses on realization and maintenance of mine workings. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This article is devoted to research of the deformation process of blanks in the new tool, that consists of two dies. Key feature of these dies is elastic elements in the view of springs. It was proved the feasibility of using a new design - dies with elastic elements instead of the currently used flat dies, since the proposed technology allows to obtain a billet of high quality with uniform equal-axes fine-grained structure with less forging reduction.

The solution of problems of materials forming can be reached by application of various ways (types) of modeling. Division into ways of modeling is quite conditional and has no clear boundaries since one way is quite often appears to be basic or includes another one. So, it is difficult to unambiguously separate computer modeling into numerical and drawing (graphic). Roughly speaking, geometrical modeling is the part of mathematical one and is allocated here in the separate type only because it makes a basis for a set of graphic software packages. In this work the classification scheme of various ways of processes and objects modeling, suitable for solution of technological and designing tasks, is given. Application of the offered classification is shown on the example of plastic forming processes modeling. There were also questions of metal yielding kinematic schemes substantion in processes of a shape formation of flat samples investigated. © 2013 TANGER Ltd., Ostrava.

There is studied the technology of processing Ti-6Al-4V powder material with various initial densities using the method of equal channel angular pressing. The device with the 90, 120 and 135 degree angled joint channels was used for the study. The deformation was carried out at the room temperature. It was found that the most favorable stressed-and-strained state was formed in the instrument where the angle of channel joints was equal to 135 degrees. The maximum compression in the instrument is reached at 90 degree angle of the channel joints, but it needs a larger deformation force. To obtain pressed material it is recommended to use a high ECAP cycle for any configuration. © 2016, Faculty of Metallurgy. All Rights Reserved.

The key factor for practical realization of the combined process «helical rolling-pressing» is the axial force of the helical rolling, which should provide the continuous pressing in the matrix after rolls. For the measurement of maximum axial rolling force, which is actually the reserve of friction forces, the special strain gauge was made. The work was carried out at the three-roll helical rolling mill “10-30” for the case of hot rolling of steel bars with diameters of 16-25 mm at a reduction of 6 % of diameter and a temperature of 1000 C. The presented article deals with the effects of equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) with a newly adjusted die geometry on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the Al-Si-Mn-Fe alloy. This alloy was subjected to two modes of heat treatment followed by the ECAP process, which led to partial back pressure (ECAP-PBP). Ultra-fine grained (UFG) structure formed through ECAP-PBP process has been studied by methods of optical as well as electron microscopy. The obtained results indicate that quenched alloys, in comparison to slowly cooled alloys, do not contain large brittle particles which subsequently initiate a premature creation of cracks. It was shown that the mechanical properties of these alloys after such processing depend first and foremost on the selected type of heat treatment and on the number of performed passes. The maximum of ultimate tensile strength (417. MPa) was obtained for quenched alloy after 3 passes. On the other hand, maximum ductility was found in slowly cooled alloy after second pass. Further passes reduced strength due to the brittle behavior of excluded particles. One of the partial findings is that there is only a small dependency of the resulting size of grains on previously applied thermal processing. The minimum grain sizes were obtained after 3 passages, where their size ranged between 0.4 and 0.8 μm. The application of quick cooling after heat processing due to the occurrence of finer precipitates in the matrix seems to produce better results. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd.
