Introduction: Caput tertium gastrocnemius is a rare but clinically important entity, as it may lead to the conditions of intermittent claudication, arterial stasis and aneurysm, venous stasis and impaired nerve function. In the recent years, it has gained more significance due to the advent of sports and the high stakes which are involved in this area. More cases of young athletes with popliteal artery entrapment are being seen. An early diagnosis is of great importance in order to avoid vascular complications and to aid in the early rehabilitation of the athletes. Materials and Methods: The material comprised of the left lower limb of a male cadaver of approximately 50 years of age, which was dissected during the routine undergraduate dissection by the usual method of dissection. Results: A third head of the gastrocnemius was found to arise from the popliteal surface of the femur and the lower half of the medial supracondylar ridge. It passed superficial to the popliteal vessels and joined the medial head of the gastrocnemius. The two heads (the third and the medial) seemed to form a constricting circle around the popliteal vessels, putting the same even in more danger of entrapment. Ontogeny: Such muscular variations may be due to our genetic composition, errors of the developmental timings or the persistence of some embryological conditions.

Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a malignant neoplasm composed of cells showing distinct smooth muscle features. Majority of the tumors are located in the retroperitoneum, including the pelvis and the uterus but are rare in the oral and pharyngeal region. Intraorally, they are present as painless, lobulated, fixed masses of the submucosal tissues in middle-aged or older individuals. Lesions are usually slow growing and are less than 2 cm in diameter at the time of diagnosis. Here we report the clinico-pathological findings of a case of primary LMS of the maxilla in 63-year-old male patient with an emphasis on the judicious use of ancillary diagnostic modalities to arrive at a definitive diagnosis. © 2014, Medknow. Pedicled buccal fat pad has been widely used for the repair of oral defects. This clinical report describes a case achieving optimum results in oral rehabilitation in a patient with retromolar trigone carcinoma. The patient underwent left modified neck dissection and marginal mandibulectomy involving the molars. Later on the defect was reconstructed using buccal fad pad and masseter cross over flap. The surgical technique is described and the result suggests that this is a logical, convenient and reliable technique for the treatment of retromolar trigone carcinoma.

Menarcheal age is the age at which menstruation begins. Menarcheal age is regarded as a sensitive indicator of physical, biological and psychological environment.1) To determine the menarcheal age and to examine the relationship between current age at menarche with anthropometric measures in Punjabi bania girls. 2) To develop maturity standards for Bania girls. The present cross-sectional survey was carried out on 200 bania girls at the age of onset of menarche. Menarcheal data was obtained by status quo method by asking about whether menarche has been experienced or not. In the present survey adolescent girls were interviewed with the help of pre-designed questionnaire. Statistical analysis was carried out in SPSS software, version 16.0. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA. Pearsons correlation coefficient was used for correlation studies.A total of 200 Punjabi bania girls were examined in the study. The median age of onset of menarche in these girls was 12.3 years. Menarcheal age was positively associated with bi-acromial width, bi-iliac width and arm span. The present research has revealed secular trend in the age of onset of menarche as indicated by median age of 12.3 years in Bania girls. The bi-acromial width, bi-iliac width and arm span were also correlated with the age of menarche.

The need for denture labeling is important for forensic and social reasons in case patients need to be identified individually. The importance of denture marking has long been acknowledged by the dental profession. Over the years, various denture marking systems have been reported in the literature, but none till date fulfills all the prescribed ADA specifications. A simple, easy, inexpensive procedure for marking accurate identification marks on dentures with a lead foil is described here. The label caring the patient information is incorporated in the acrylic resin during the denture processing.
