Fish skin mucus has recently been recognized to be a potential source of antimicrobial peptides, which provides the first line of defense against invading pathogens. This study reports the purification and characterization of a novel linear antimicrobial peptide, pelteobagrin, from the skin mucus of yellow catfish (Pelteobagrus fulvidraco, Richardson). Pelteobagrin is 20 amino acids in length (GKLNLFLSRLEILKLFVGAL) and shows no clear homology with any known bioactive peptides. MALDI-TOF MS indicated the molecular mass of the purified peptide was 2244.4. Da, which is in good agreement with pelteobagrin's predicted molecular weight of 2244.8. Da. Pelteobagrin exhibited antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as fungi, and the activity was relatively salt-insensitive as it was not affected by NaCl concentrations of up to 137. mM. Moreover, pelteobagrin displayed no hemolytic activity to rabbit red blood cells. Transmission electron microscopy suggested that pelteobagrin might kill bacteria via acting on both the cell wall and the cytoplasmic membrane of bacteria. These results suggest that pelteobagrin might be involved in the innate defense system in yellow catfish. © 2010 Elsevier Inc. Source

On the basis of the classical set Cantor, there derives a branch of mathematics-- fuzzy mathematics. Therefore, the study of the relationships among things covers not only uncertainty relation and stochastic relation, but also fuzzy relation. With more and more attention from the research by mathematicians, the theory of fuzzy mathematics is becoming more perfect. It has been widely applied to the solution of practical problems. In recent years, in order to increase the interest of aerobics course and the efficiency and practicality of aerobics teaching, an increasing number of colleges and universities have been adopting aerobics computer-assisted instruction (CAI) courseware because it has been generally affirmed. At the same time, the modern advances in technology and the popularity of computer knowledge make the teaching possible through electronic devices. This article discusses the superiority of fuzzy mathematics to the traditional set Cantor in detail and explains the ideas and specific operating process of the single-level and multi-level fuzzy mathematics. Based on valid data obtained through the random sampling survey of gymnastics class carried out in Wuhan Sports University, it adopts fuzzy-mathematics-oriented comprehensive evaluation to rationally discriminate between the rationality and superiority of teaching method. Motivation: Trans-acting small interfering RNAs (ta-siRNAs) play an essential role in the regulation of plant gene expression, but relevant reports are still limited. Bioinformatic analyses indicate that many ta-siRNA-producing loci (TASs) are present in plants, implying the existence of as yet undiscovered ta-siRNAs and related regulatory pathways. To expand our knowledge of these plant gene regulators, we applied high-throughput computational and experimental methods to grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.).Results: Based on bioinformatic predictions, we identified 49 TASs from 49 055 small RNA clusters. Using RNA degradome analysis, we experimentally validated 5 TASs, 22 ta-siRNAs and 37 ta-siRNA targets. The cis-activities of ta-siRNAs were also confirmed, which suggested an inactive mechanism of TAS transcription, and a produced mechanism of multiple forms of small RNA from same TAS. We examined the conservation of newly identified ta-siRNA regulatory cascades and found that while the cascade related to vviTAS3 was conserved, cascades related to vviTAS7, vviTAS8, vviTAS9 and vviTAS10 were grape-specific. Power grid crisis happening at home and abroad warns the urgency of power grid crisis management. It is necessary to research on online intelligent decision-making system of power-grid security based on data mining. This paper studies the status of foreign online intelligent decision-making system of power-grid security and the concrete application of foreign online intelligent decision-making system of power-grid security. Based on advanced data mining technology, by online updating safety limit-rules and automatically digging out the running rules, the safe limit values are in line with actual condition of power-grid, dispatchers can adjust the grid by running this limit and can obtain a larger cross-section delivery power-flow. In such a way, it not only can ease the power shortage situation of the system, but also improve poor power transmission ability, and produce economic benefits. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
