In the present study, temporal dynamics of shearing force of rice stem was investigated. Results showed that shearing force was significantly greater at lower moisture content. Shearing force of stem increased with advancing maturity stage. Cellulose and hemicellulose content of stem increased over time. On the same sampling date, shearing force decreased from lower part to upper part of the plant. There was positive relationship between shearing force and cellulose content, and between shearing force and hemicellulose content, but there was no relationship between shearing force and lignin content. It is suggested that the energy requirement for precutting rice straw will be significantly less if rice is harvested earlier than the traditional harvest date without prejudicing grain yield. In the meantime, the rice straw will have higher nutritive value as animal feed. These data are also useful for the design of rice harvesting machine or rice straw precutting equipment. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd.

Novel nanoparticle-assembled Bi25FeO40 (BFO) tetrahedrons with relatively good dispersion were successfully synthesized through a facile, mild and rapid hydrothermal process. The phases and morphologies of the samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Such sillenite-type BFO tetrahedrons were found to be fabricated by abundant nanoparticles with single crystalline nature. Some influencing factors including reaction time, temperature and the amount of additives (e.g., polyacrylamide, sodium citrate and sodium hydroxide) were revealed to play crucial roles in the generation of this BFO nanoarchitecture. Moreover, the visible light-driven photocatalytic activities of the BFO products were investigated. This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.

As cloud storage becomes widely used, sensitive data is usually required to be encrypted before stored in the cloud. Searchable encryption schemes provide an important mechanism to cryptographically protect data and make it available to be searched and accessed. Predicate encryption, a recently developed cryptographic primitive, offers a new solution to search on encrypted data and fine-grained access control over the encrypted data. It makes ciphertext related to the attribute and user's secret key and token associated with the predicate. This paper reviews the development of provably secure schemes and some states of the most recent researches. There remain open problems in before works like security issues and lacking of efficiency, which guides us to the future directions. © 2014 Engineering and Technology Publishing
