The protocols in IEC61850 standard to ensure the real-time performance of GOOSE service are analyzed. The internal communication messages of digital substation are mainly MMS messages, GOOSE messages and sampling messages, and their application features are analyzed. Based on the security, reliability and real-time performance of GOOSE network, the development of networking mode from special network to common network in digital substation is discussed and the application features of single loop-type and star -type network structures in GOOSE networking are explained. Applications of VLAN technology, message priority technology and link aggregation technology in GOOSE networking are studied. Case study is provided for GOOSE networking mode, network structure and switch configuration.

An automatic voltage coordinated control system by coordination between provincial and district power networks is designed and implemented. The automatic coordinated control mode is designed based on bidirectional-interaction. A coordinated control agent is introduced, and the multi-agent system coordination structure is proposed. The reactive power and voltage on the provincial and district boundary are chosen as coordinated variables. The provincial agent provides the voltage ability constraints and reactive power demand constraints, while the district agent provides the voltage demand constraints and reactive power ability constraints. With these coordinated constraints, the coordinated control agent generates a coordinated control strategy for the provincial and district agents. The coordinated control system has been implemented in Jiangsu power grid and an excellent performance has been observed. © 2010 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press.

The complexity and solving size of monthly generation plan makes it difficult to optimize monthly unit commitment. Based on the principle of simultaneously considering calculation performance and key demands on the monthly plan, a monthly security constrained unit commitment (SCUC) model with minimum energy deviation as the objective is developed by period simplification and power-energy decoupling. The model proposed is solved with a mixed integer programming optimization algorithm. Test results for an actual provincial system show the validity of the model. © 2011 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press.

An integration scheme of operations management system (OMS) and production management system (PMS) for Jiangsu power grid and the relevant technical support are presented. Taking equipment database, monthly maintenance scheme and power grid maintenance applications for example, the information sharing and interactive mode between these two systems are expounded.
