Several formulations were prepared with the prepolymer, 2, 2-bis-[4-(2-hydroxy-3-methacryloxy prop-1-oxy) phenyl] propane in combination with the diluent, tri (ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate, the photoinitiator, camphoroquinone and the coinitiator, 2-(diethylamino) ethyl methacrylate. Thin polymer films were obtained by coating the formulated solutions on the thin glass plates and then cured under visible light radiation. The degree of conversion and rate of polymerization of the irradiated photopolymer samples were determined by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectra. The aim of the work is to determine the parameters such as the rate of polymerization, activation energy, enthalpy of activation, the entropy of activation, and Gibbs free energy of activation by using various concentrations of the photoinitiating system, camphoroquinone/2-(diethylamino) ethyl methacrylate and tri (ethyleneglycol) dimethacrylate at the various temperature of 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70°C respectively. Spectrochimica Acta - Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy

The novel nonlinear optical single crystal of L-Tryptophan p-nitrophenol (LTPN) has been successfully synthesized by taking the appropriate amount of L-Tryptophan and p-nitrophenol. The single crystals have been grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique. The single crystal XRD studies confirmed that the grown crystal belongs to the monoclinic system. The various functional groups presented in the crystal were confirmed by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopic studies. The absorptions of the grown crystals were analyzed using UV-Vis-NIR spectral studies. The thermal analysis was performed to study the thermal stability of the grown crystals. The second harmonic generation behavior of L-Tryptophan p-nitrophenol crystal was tested by Kurtz-Perry powder technique. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Source

A composite material is a combination of two or more materials arranged in the form of layer one on the other layer using binding material through some prescribed methods. In the Glass fibre coconut fibre human hair hybrid composite method, the epoxy resin is used as binding material, in which one layer is formed of glass fibre, followed by coconut fibre and then by human hair. By using hand layup method and by changing the above arrangement of layers, six types of laminates are prepared by using the resin of LY556 and hardness HY951.The six types of laminates are Glass fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP)Coconut coir reinforced plastic(CCRP),Human hair reinforced plastic(HHRP),Glass - Coconut coir - human hair- Glass hybrid composite (GCHGRP),Coconut coir-glass- human hair-coconut coir hybrid composite (CGHCRP) and human hair-coconut coir-glass-human hair hybrid composite (HCGHRP). As per ASTM standard, specimens are prepared in the above said six conduct various tests such as tensile, flexural, shear, impact and hardness tests. From the characterization of Glass-coconut coir-Human hair hybrid composite, it is observed that Eco-friendly coconut coir and human hair inclusion in the Glass fibre laminates have significantly influenced the mechanical properties. Nine different formulations were prepared from the prepolymer, 2,2-bis-[4-(2-hydroxy-3-acryloxy prop-1-oxy)phenyl] propane with various functional diluents namely, monofunctional diluent, Di(ethylene glycol)ethylether acrylate, difunctional diluent, tri(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate and trifunctional diluent, trimethylolpropane ethoxylate (1-ethoxylate/hydroxyl) triacrylate in the presence of photoinitiator, 2, 2-dimethoxy-2-phenylacetophenone. These solutions were coated on the glass plates and then cured under ultraviolet radiation. The kinetics of photopolymerization, percent double bond conversion and rate of polymerization were studied by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectra. The results show that increasing irradiation time increases degree of conversion, whereas the rate of polymerization increases suddenly and then decreases. The gel content (%), hardness and density of the photocrosslinked polymers were studied. The swelling coefficient, crosslink density and molecular weight between crosslinks of the photocured polymers were determined by swelling measurement using N, N'–dimethyl formamide as a solvent. It is found that density, hardness and the gel content increases with increase of functionality in the diluents. © 2014, Sphinx Knowledge House. All rights reserved. Source
