The aim of the study is to reduce the failures and increase the reliability of the machine tools. The experimental investigations of the influence of aqueous fluid for metalworking on the reliability of machine tools have been carried out on drilling machines. The lifetime of machine tool elements up to failures due to the influence of metalworking fluids mostly shows large deviations. Using the probability and the statistic methods, it was possible to determine the influence of aqueous fluid on tribological processes in relation to the lifetime and reliability of machine tools. From the results the following conclusions can be drawn: • The tribomechanical system failures were found to be affected by both coolant system and type of metalworking fluid under presented operating conditions, • The metalworking microemulsion gives a longer tribomechanical systems life compared with the case of the metalworking emulsion. The main role of the gears is to ensure smoothness and noiseless service required power transmission, precision of processing necessary degree of efficiency and so on. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of tribological processes on the gear failures. The gears have poor conformity between surfaces, very small contact areas and very high unit loading. The tribological behaviour of the gears is influenced by numbers of factors that are interrelated in complicated ways. It is well-known that tribological processes occur when there is relative motion between two contacting elements such as in gears and other tribomechanical systems. The consequence of the development of tribological processes on the operation of the gears is the wearing out and failure of the gears in contact. Three major measures of the reliability effectiveness of gears have been addressed: failure rate, average life and reliable curve. Source
