In recent days the use of non linear loads has increased, thereby creating distortions in voltage and current waveforms. These distortions or Harmonic distortions in electric voltages and currents that appear on the power system as a result of non-linear electric loads and harmonic frequencies are frequent causes of power quality problems. Harmonic components should be detected. This detection previously was done by FFT analysis, i. e Fast Fourier Transform analysis. Now, we are detecting these harmonics using a technology called Wavelet Transform analysis. We get the detailed coefficients of the harmonics using Wavelet Transform analysis. Our main objective of the project is to show the difference between the FFT analysis and the Wavelet Transform analysis. © Research India Publications.
