The presented research deals with the development of comfortable male underwear taking into account the development of pattern block methods and the analysis of the relationships existing between the compression pressure, the knitted materials properties, and some push-up effects. The main aim of this study is to achieve the technical selection of the materials based on KES–FB evaluations.The ease value has been used as the main index to connect the structural design of underwear, on one hand, and the body sizes, on other hand. A “body-shell” system for testing the soft tissue of male bodies by FlexiForce sensor has been implemented. The pressures under the shells at six different places on the male body with ease changing have been tested.The collected results including maximum-possible pressure and material tensile indexes measured thanks to KES-FB have been analyzed in order to find the most relevant indexes of the material properties. A mathematical equations based on relationships combining theoretical model with practical application have been established. These equations will be helpful for the consumers and designers to select “the suitable knitting materials for male underwear” and they can be used too in the perspective of parameterization in CAD, in order to improve product developments efficiency. © AUTEX.

The structural properties of nonionic spherical micelles with relatively large extensions of the interfacial layer are investigated, and the size dependences of their adsorption, interfacial tension, and chemical potential are obtained. Such familiar thermodynamic relationships as the Gibbs and Laplace equations, the differential equation for the chemical potential, and the concept of hydrophilic–lipophilic balance are used. The method is applied to micelles formed in surfactant solutions of a homologous series of tetraethylene glycol alkyl ethers. The region of the existence of micellar solutions and the structural characteristics of the interfacial layer of micelles are determined. The interfacial tension minimum corresponding to ideal hydrophilic–lipophilic balance in the micelle interfacial layer is detected. The chemical potential is negative over the range of the homologous series, and its derivative with respect to the tension radius is also negative. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The density, dynamic viscosity, and dielectric constant of propylene carbonate solutions with acetonitrile are measured over the composition of a mixed solvent at temperatures of 253.15, 273.15, 293.15, and 313.15 K. The molar volume, molar viscosity, and molar capacity of a mixture of propylene carbonate–acetonitrile and an excess amount of it are calculated. The effect the temperature and composition of the mixture have on the excess molar properties is discussed. A linear correlation is observed between the values of the molar fluidity, capacity, polarization, and molar volume of the studied system. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

A method for controlling the elastic deformation properties of polymer‒fiber composites was developed. The rigidity of the material is increased by the penetration of the reinforcing polymer into the pore structure of the textile substrate to form а branched interfacial layer. The nanoparticle size distribution in the polymer hydrosol products was analyzed by dynamic light scattering, the porosity of fibrous materials was measured by low temperature of adsorption and desorption of nitrogen vapor, and the polymer‒polymer interactions were studied by IR spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The method was implemented in the development of a new range of garment interfacings and allowed solution of engineering problems associated with imparting to garments a complex geometric shape and its retention in wear. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The factors influencing for fit and suit of women’s clothing have been studied. The main reason of misfit is the nonconformity between the front and back width of pattern block, the corresponding body sizes taken across the hipline, and the textile materials properties. To predict the behavior of textile fabrics in real clothes including the shear deformation and wrinkles appearing, the special test and device have been designed. The developed method of pattern block making includes the test of clothes proportionality based on the female bodies sizes, pattern block indexes, and textile fabrics properties. Features of “figure-clothes” systems in-cluding the vertical designing lines, styles, volume of clothes, ease allowance and its distribution between the back, armhole, and front of the pattern blocks were taken into consideration. Recommendations in terms of selecting the proper design of style for different sizes of female bodies have been made. © AUTEX.

This research devoted to the problems arising in the process of male underwear designing. To improve the situation it's necessary to renew and increase all the data bases. 1st data base is about male body, its structure and body sizes, morphology, sensitiveness of soft tissue under compression pressure done by knitted materials, elasticity of soft tissue and ability to reshaping to get push-up effects. 2nd data base is about the knitted textile material, its properties including comfort, elongation, ability to compress and reshape the soft tissue, and way of using the properties mentioned in pattern block design. 3rd data base is about the structure of underwear including the number of details, inner seams configurations to help the body compression. We have found out some significant relations between these parameters from mentioned data bases and establish into the system, which can provide the new algorithm of pattern block making.

Abstract The objective of the study is developing a simple yet informative mathematical model that describes the kinetics of melting a rod under the action of a localized periodically moving heat source. For this purpose, a cell model is used with the heat conduction matrix that takes into account different properties of liquid and solid phases of the rod material. Zones of the rod that are outside of the local heat source action have heat exchange with the outside environment. It is shown that the melting kinetics strongly depends on the program of heat source motion along the rod and on its residence time at each of its positions. The optimal program of heat source motion that allows melting the whole rod over the shortest possible period of time is found. © 2015 Elsevier Masson SAS.

A cell mathematical model of two-dimensional thermal state of a building envelop near an embedded item is proposed. The model is based on the recurrent matrix equality that describes the thermal state evolution taking into account the phase transformation in the wall material. The main operator of the model is the matrix of heat conduction for a complex two-dimensional domain, in which the physical properties have jump variation at the borders of zones that are presented by the shape matrix and take into account the embedded item configuration. An example of calculating the temperature field and calculating the configuration of the freeze-up zone at different positions of the wall-embedded item is presented. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd. Nowadays, the booming of 3D simulation and analog technology had provided powerful support for the CAD improvement. Results of simulation related to the clothing are expected not only be able to predict the clothes shape with highly accuracy according to 2D flat pattern and material properties, but also start to focus on prediction of compression pressure in system "body-clothes". In this study we showed the initial steps and content of "human-friendly" CAD (HF CAD) for system "female body - dress", which was created by combining the different data bases obtained from the pattern block parameters, fabric properties, 3D air gape located between the body and clothes (CEV), comfort perception under acting of pressure to soft tissue. Under this way, we tried to improve the existing apparel CAD with function to predict the subjective perception of physical pressure.

The results of theoretical research of making new combined sewing technologies on the basis of chemical materials have been presented in the article. Requirements to chemical materials, restrictions and stimulus for formation concentration operations have been determined. The possibility of realization of seams hermetic sealing simultaneously with connection on sewing equipment has been shown.
