Spermatogenesis is a physiological reaction dependent to harmony of gonadotropins and steroid hormones activities. Conjugated linoleic acid is a group of long chain unsaturated fatty acids of a conjugated bound which are found in dairy products, beef and lamb. There are strong reasons that g/kg of food affects mediators involved in spermatogenesis. The aim of this study was determination of effect of various CLA doses on hormones and systemic factors of various CLA doses on hormones and systemic and local factors which affect spermatogenesis. Fifty mature male mice were divided in five groups (T0: control, T1: placebo and T2-T4: treatment groups). Each group had two replications with four mice in each replication. Samples received control diet (0 g/kg of conjugated linoleic acid) or treatment diet (0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 g/kg of CLA) which was replaced with corn oil of diet. After 30 days, blood samples were taken and level of FSH, LH and testosterone hormones were measured. Data were analyzed using ANOVA method and SPSS program and means were compared using Duncan's multiple ranges test at 5% probability level. CLA increased testosterone, LH and FSH level significantly in T3 and T4 groups. According to results, CLA has significant effect on secondary sexual activity of male animal which can affect spermatogenesis rate. ©Maxwell Scientific Organization, 2013.

Meat tenderness is an importantquality characteristicfor which consumersare interested. Calpastatin is the calpain inhibitor enzyme and plays an important role in muscle growth and meat quality. The calpastin gene is located on sheep chromosome 5 and its polymorphisms are associated with economic traits. This study was performed to identify calpastatin gene polymorphisms using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. Random blood samples were collected from 100 Zel sheep. DNA was extracted by the salting out method and was amplified using PCR. The quantity and quality of the extracted DNA were determined by spectrophotometry and agarose gel electrophoresis. For amplification, a 622 bp fragment exon 1 of the calpastatin gene was used. Amplified fragments were digested by Msp1 restriction enzyme to determine the calpastatin genotypes, and two alleles. M and N were identified. The genotype frequencies of the MM, MN and NN were 0.62, 0.26 and 0.12, respectively in the population under study. Also, the allelic frequency of M and N were 0.75 and 0.25, respectively. Investigation of population genetic structure of Zel sheep revealed that it was not in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (p<0.05). The results indicate that it could be useful to consider genetic diversity at calpastatin locus in Zel sheep. © 2012 Academic Journals.

Background: Nitric oxide (NO) that plays important role in all sexual activities of animals is made from the amino acid L-arginine by the enzymatic action of NO synthase (NOS). NO makes a band with sulfur-iron complexes, but due to production of steroid sexual hormones related to the enzymes involved in this complex, NO can change the activity of these enzymes. NO affects many cells including vein endothelial cells, macrophages and mast cells. These cells are also found in Leydig cells; therefore, they are important source of NO in testis tissue. Therefore, minimizing damages to sperm at the time of freezing thawing process are really important. The aim of this study was to determine the appropriate NO concentration to be added to the freezing extender to improve the quality of thawed sperm. Materials and Methods: In this experimental randomized study, sperms of four Holstein bulls with an average age of 4 were collected twice a week for 3 weeks. They received sodium nitroprusside (SNP) in concentrations of 0, 10, 50 and 100 nmol/ml. Data analysis was performed using the special issue and static (SAS) 98 software. Also, mean comparison was done using Duncan’s multiple ranges test (P<0.05).This research was conducted at the laboratory of Science and Research Branch, Islamic Azad University, Tehran at spring and summer of 2013. Results: All concentrations of SNP used was found to increase motility and viability of spermatozoa at 1, 2 and 3 hours after thawing, significantly (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference at zero time. Different concentrations of SNP reduced the membrane lipid peroxidation level of sperm and increased acrosome membranes integrity, implying that SNP generally improved samples membranes, especially in 50 and 100 nmol/ml concentrations. Conclusion: According to the obtained results, addition of SNP to semen diluents increases motility and viability of spermatozoa. Pioglitazone is the oral anti-diabetic drug and it needs insulin to exert its effects and it reduces insulin resistance in environment. This drug is a potentand specific agonist for PPAR. The purpose of this study is testing the effect of different doses of pioglitazone on the ovulation hormones. This experiment is done in a completely randomized block design and compared with Duncan test. In this experiment 16 sheep with an average of 3 to 4 years and weighing about 60 kg were used. Ewes were randomly divided into 4 groups. The control group received no treatment, treatment1received 10mg of pioglitazone, treatment2 received 20 mg of pioglitazone, treatment 3 received 30 mg of pioglitazone. The pioglitazone treatment was given orally for 42 days. The first blood sampling was performed 2 times first blood sampling was before treatment and the second was after the forty-second days after ram up. In this study, serum concentrations of LH, FSH, estrogen, progesterone, insulin, leptin, cholesterol and triglycerides were measured. The results of this study shows that serum levels of estrogen, progesterone, 1, 2 and 3 compared to control treatments were significantly different (P<0.05). Treatment1of FSH was significantly different compared to control group (P<0.05).Treatment 1insulin was significantly different compared to control group (P<0.05). Treatments1, 2and 3of leptin were significantly different compared to control group (P<0.05).The results of this experiment showed that pioglitazone may have significant effects on hypothalamic- pituitary and ovarian hormones.

The present study is focused on the comparison of non-linear static analysis (Pushover) which is used by two major guidance documents, the New Zealand guideline and the US FEMA 440, on the assessment of existing buildings currently available for moment resisting concrete frames. The main purpose of the study is to trace the differences in the results produced by these two guidelines. For this, three different moment resisting concrete frames are assessed under these two guidelines to determine the PGA value that causes their collapse. In the next step, these are compared by their similar values that are determined from the nonlinear dynamic analysis in which Park and Ang damage index is used as acceptance criteria for components. As is found, the result of force based approach which is proposed by New Zealand guideline is more compatible with the nonlinear dynamic analysis.

Pioglitazone (PGT) belongs to thiazolidinedione (TZD) family or insulin sensitizers that are potent ligands for peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma and are used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It has been shown that injection of TZD in cattle has some useful effects on blood parameters but there is no published study with respect to the feeding of TZDs in ruminants till now. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the bioavailability and several other pharmacokinetic parameters of PGT in sheep. A single intravenous (IV) or oral dose of PGT (10 mg/kg) was administered to five male sheep. Blood samples were collected at various time intervals, and PGT concentration was measured by a validated high-performance liquid chromatography method. The data obtained were best fitted into a two-compartment model for the IV route, and non-compartmental approach for oral route. The bioavailability of PGT was obtained to be approximately 62%. After IV injection of PGT, the elimination half-life (t 1/2β), the volume of distribution at steady-state (V ss) and the elimination rate constant (k el) were obtained to be 4.04±0.88 h, 0.30±0.06 L/kg and 0.47±0.09 h1, respectively. After oral administration of PGT, highest drug concentration observed in plasma (C max), the time (t max) at which C max occurs, half-life (t 1/2), absorption rate constant (k ab) and elimination rate constant (k el) were obtained to be 10.2±1.3 g/mL, 6.4±0.3 h, 4.42±0.21 h, 0.16±0.01 h1 and 0.16±0.01 h1, respectively. © 2012 Taylor and Francis.

Reduction of stress concentrations in the area of pin-loaded holes is one of the greatest challenges in the design of multilayered fibre-reinforced composite structures. Among many approaches to decrease concentration effects, putting metallic inserts in the holes is a convenient method. In this research, finite element analysis is applied to assess the effects of manufacturing parameters on stress concentration in the vicinity of the holes in composite plates with inserts. Edge and pitch distance, thickness and materials of insert, clearance between insert and composite part, and stiffness of the adhesive filling the gap are studied in this article. Investigations show that the optimum ratio of edge distance of insert to hole's diameter is between 2 and 3. Results also show that the changes of the ratio of hole diameter to the width of plate do not have a considerable effect on the bearing concentration factor. Thicker insert reduces stress on the hole contour and higher clearance increases stress near the holes. Finally, increase of adhesive stiffness reduces the stress concentration caused by the clearance. © 2011 IMechE.

Genetic improvement in broiler speeding but weakened immune system and increased susceptibility to disease is Because of the very low levels of antibiotics as growth in poultry diets As well as prophylactic agents are used. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ginger on the immune system of broilers were exposed to Salmonella infection. A total of 160 one-day-old Ross 308 broiler chicks were randomly selected. Chicks were trained over a period of 42 days. Blood was performed. Blood for determination of white blood cells and serum cholesterol concentrations were measured at days 21 and 42. For the statistical analysis software SAS and statistical methods were used in a completely randomized design. Powdered ginger significantly reduces cholesterol and increased white blood cell (P > 0/05). Some chicken blood immune parameters that have been exposed to Salmonella infection is increased, which indicates the immune system.
