The influencing factors for the precipitation of titanium carbonitride and the reasons of unsatisfactory protecting performance were discussed with thermodynamics calculation. The result indicates that silicon content can restrict the titanium content in hot metal. So temperature of hot metal should be kept in the appropriate limits to promote the reduction of TiO2 in slag and silicon content should be increased to ensure that the titanium content is enough in hot metal. On the other hand, decreasing the surface temperature of eroded carbon brick can reduce the solubility of titanium, which can improve the precipitation of titanium in hot metal. Further more, titanium-bearing materials should be used in production process of blast furnace for a long time. The titanium covering layer can be formed in a short time after being peeled off, which can be got by the calculation of titanium balance. Source

High blast air temperature is an effective way for higher pulverized coal injection, energy saving and lower cost of BF operations. For the No.2 BF in Shougang Qian'an Iron and Steel Co. Ltd, the hot blast air temperature is raised through optimization of hot blast stove structure, making use of simulation to ascertain optimal air-gas ratio and application of automatic control combustion of hot blast stove etc. The hot blast air temperature was continuously increased from August 2008. The hot blast air temperature was above 1280°C in September 2009. By adjustment of the operating system, BF can assimilate high blast air temperature, the economical and technical indicators also climbed to a new level. Source
