Time slot and wavelength switching have increasing role in IP networks due to their ability to switch high speed data flows in simpler and more economical and energy efficient way than packet switching. The introduction of GMPLS directly integrates IP layer with underlying time slot and wavelength switched layers, whose most important representative is OTN layer. This paper describes one solution for the modelling of OTN cross-connect functionality using SNMP. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper we analyze the influence of intracell traffic in a GSM cell on the base station output power. It is proved that intra-cell traffic increases this power. If offered traffic is small, the increase of output power is equal to the part of intra-cell traffic. When the offered traffic and, as the result, call loss increase, the increase of output power becomes less. The results of calculation are verified by the computer simulation of traffic process in the GSM cell. The calculation and the simulation consider the uniform distribution of mobile users in the cell, but the conclusions are of a general nature.

In this paper we present the telephone network and the recommendations, dealing with the greatest target values of Post Selection Delay. It is shown that the Post Selection Delay is the sum of the delays between the network nodes and that it has the smaller dispersion than the one, recommended as the greatest in the recommendations.

In this paper we calculate error probability of packetized signal when method of redundant packet sending is used in IP network. The number of repeated signaling packets from each interval of packetization is determined to achieve the desired error probability. The method for management of this number of repetitions is developed based on the new analysis. This method is especially important in the case of sending signaling criteria of classic telephony network over IP network, because it makes possible to reach the same error probability as in classic telephony network.

Packaging of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) strongly affects the device performances. It is the core technology for the advancement of MEMS and is recognized as the next manufacturers challenge for the forthcoming years due to the growing market and stricter requirements. There is a vast diversity of applications and the most of MEMS packaging challenges are application dependent. It is the objective of this paper to review and discuss the most common MEMS packaging challenges. For that reason, five case studies on MEMS pressure sensors, MEMS accelerometers, RF MEMS, MOEMS and BioMEMS are presented for an in-depth illustration. © 2014 IEEE.

Following an analysis of standard solutions, a new architecture for the integration of management systems is proposed. It is based on an agent-manager paradigm, with three modelled entities: agents, subnet managers, and net managers. Compared to standard solutions, the proposed one is better in terms of scalability, robustness, cost of implementation and integration capabilities. The proposed model is implemented and verified by using it to integrate IRITEL network management systems. © 2011 IEEE.

High availability is the main reason for building corporate telephone network of an electric power utility. In this paper is described a novel method for improving the availability, using pre-alarm detector based on the analysis and statistics of telephone traffic. Basic parameters for describing its efficiency are introduced: probability of false pre-alarm detection, probability of a detection miss, and mean time to detection. Detection is proposed in one, two and multiple number of steps, and their basic parameters are presented and compared. © 2014 IEEE.

In this paper we present the combined influence of packet delay and packet loss on speech quality in packet telephony. We calculate equiquality lines, which demonstrate the joint influence of these factors on the packetized signal quality. The use of equiquality lines to determine the optimal size of de-jitter buffer is illustrated by couple of numerical examples.

In this paper we calculate the distribution of output power of traffic channels of base station in GSM network depending on the traffic load. The principle of the calculation is to find the distribution of the output power of one traffic channel, and then to combine this distribution with the distribution of the number of busy traffic channels. Numerical example refers to the simplest distributions, but the principle can be implemented on the more complicate distributions.
