In this paper, we proposed the design and implementation of the broadband modem for sensor networks with WiFi and ZigBee combination to transmit sensor data in a sewage disposal plant. We collected sensor data to the broadband modem using ZigBee communication for integrated management server to transmit the sensor data used in the sewage disposal plant. Then, we built the system that transmitted collected sensor data in real-time to the integration management server via WiFi communication. The broadband modem for sensor networks improved control capabilities of the existing sewage disposal plant. It could be an efficient energy management tool. Accordingly, the Broadband Modem was expected to improve the energy efficiency of the sewage disposal plant. Copyright © 2014 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd. Source

In this paper, Battery inspection system (BIS), for a high-speed data transmission in the internal energy management system (EMS) is proposed to reliably maintain charging and discharging batteries. For checking the state of charge (SOC) graph for 12 channels' voltage and temperature, the proposed system was designed to support a controller area network (CAN) interface operation with the speed of 500 kbps, 12-bits successive approximate register (SAR) typed analogue to digital converter (ADC) and a digital signal processing (DSP) processor with the operation speed of 300 MHz. It was conformed that the SOC results were stored in the DSP processor. This BIS system in EMS can be improved with real-time monitoring for the battery information in charging and discharging operation. It is expected to be effective in energy utilisation through BIS. In this paper, it is a proposal for a charge pump circuit design techniques for boosting the low voltage obtained from energy harvest techniques such as thermoelectric elements. In order to boost the low voltage, it did attempt to minimize the impact of high on-resistance and Clock-Feedthrough. CMOS switch was used, and was controlled not to occur the overlap during operation of the circuit. Charge pump circuit was designed for 4-stage as the condition for boosting low voltage. The simulation result shows, Cn=0.4pF, Cn+1=0.3pF, Cn+2=0.2pF, Cn+3=0.1pF and when load Capacitor was designed by 10pF, 0.3V input voltage became 1.4V about five times by boosting. © 2014 SERSC. Amid the emerging importance of electric power, the demand for ESS is on the rise. However, high price of ESS is a stumbling block in using ESS. Thus, this study suggests a mobile IT convergence technology that allows efficient use of ESS, and we have developed a system similar to the ESS for demonstration. This proposed system proves that voltage values of a plurality of lithium ion batteries can be monitored easily using a mobile device, which means that ESS can be efficiently used. © 2014 SERSC.
