Four new 1-dodecyl-1-methylpirydinium (I) salts were synthesized by conversion of the I bromide in H2O or MeOH to resp. I methylsulfate, formiate, acetate or metoxyacetate (yield 98-99%). The I salts (ionic iiqs.) were studied for structure by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy and for electrolytic cond. to det. crit. micelle concns. and free energy of micellization. Three solid 1-R-1-methylpiperidinium bromides (R = C85 C10 and C12 alkyl) were also studied for crit. micelle concn. and free energy of micellization. Source

A com. acryllc-urethane resin was reinforced by addn. of octamethacryloxypropyloctasllsesquloxane (5-35% by mass) arid UV-cured. The resulting new hybrid org.-lnorg. materials were studied for mech. and phys.-chem. properties. An Increase In hardness (up to approx. 56%), Young modulus (a 15-fold), tensile strength (a 3-fold) as well as Improved thermal resistance and reduced water uptake were obsd. as a result of the reinforcement.
