The wet test of insulators, the theory of water jet behavior in air and artificial rain production were described. The wet flashover voltage of medium voltage insulators manufactured from porcelain and silicone rubber but having identical profiles was measured.

This paper describes the technologies of water treatment with biological material use by high-voltage techniques such as sterilization of liquids based on the high pulsed electric field application (the phenomenon of electroporation of cellular walls), as well as the technique of purifying water from hydrocarbon compounds with electron radiation. The electrical method of waste utilization and the essence of the vitrification process were described. The results of the studies on the modification of the fly ash/vitrification properties was showed.

The results of electrical strength investigations of a ceramic insulators was showed. The current and voltage graphs during impulse high voltage tests were recorded. The spices were modified by coatings which change the surface resistivity of the samples. Effect of surface modification on the current and voltage figures was described. The results of the flashover voltage with the use of impulse voltage was showed. Using the layers with surface resistivity in order of 1010 - 1011 Ω increases flashover voltage about 17%. The figures of discharges during impulse voltage tests with positive polarization were recorded. Based on the electrical strength results and discharge observation the impact of surface charge on the discharge trajectory was showed.

This paper describes the mechanism of a surface discharges on the solid dielectric - atmospheric air boundary phase. The results of the flashover voltage, with the use of impulse voltage, on the ceramic samples with different coating and various surface resistivity, was showed. Based on electrical field measurements, before and after flashover, the impact on the discharge trajectory and flashover voltage, was showed. Using the semiconducting varnish layer with surface resistivity about 1010 Ω as a coating, increase flashover voltage and decrease the electrical field from the surface charge, which change the electrical field distribution near the tested sample.
