The paper presents an evaluation of selected IT effectiveness methods. Each method has been assessed by the classification and usability criteria proposed by the authors. The classification criteria related to the IT effectiveness methods are goal, dimensions, scope and presentation of the results of analysis. The usability criteria for the given method include: degree of transparency, flexibility, horizon, speed and productivity of implementation, theoretical basis and tool support for the method. The developed roadmap targeted for the managers is useful as a decision-making process of choosing the appropriate IT investment evaluation method based on company's needs and data availability.

The paper presents the results of research on the laboratory heating and air conditioning intelligent computer control system development. We present the method for improving the quality of control and optimization of energy consumption obtained due to the modifications of well-known applied solutions based on the classic algorithms and the practical application of the new intelligent control algorithms. The study was conducted using the specialized laboratory tools. The laboratory model consists of the heat exchanger model, automation system and technical computing software for engineers and scientists - Matlab & Simulink.

In the paper there are reviewed the solutions within the field of data transmission in wireless measurement networks. There are also developed the requirements set for this kind of solutions, taking into account the way of transmission and its quality. There are characterized the working modes of network nodes that perform many different functions: measurement, two-way transmission, coordination, data concentration or routing ones. The special demands are underlined in the range of network nodes' energy supply. There are recommended low-energy solutions enabling measurement nodes to work without the necessity of battery change for a long period of time. The energy economy effect is obtained by use of microprocessors working in the sleep mode with minimal energy consumption and turned on only for the short time activity needed for measurement and data transmission. There are presented characteristics of the most often used specialized transmission protocols in wireless networks, both simple and more complicated ones. On this basis there are formulated the conclusions respect to possible applications.

The article presents the results of research to develop an intelligent control air-conditioning system. Predictive algorithms are used to control. Fuzzy modelling was used for the synthesis of predictive algorithms. In the paper the quality control for the classic controllers and the predictive FDMC controllers was compared. The mathematical model of closed room was developed to verify the proposed control system of air-conditioing. The effectiveness of developed intelligent control system of air-conditioning and solutions based on classical control algorithms were compared. The simulation tests were conducted in Matlab & Simulink environment.
