Eu-doped lanthanum orthophosphate samples were prepared by precipitation in aqueous solution of lanthanide ions using different precipitation agents or applying a hydrothermal treatment. The influence of the precipitation parameters on the structure and morphology of La 0.95Eu 0.05PO 4 was studied analyzing the samples by XRD, FTIR and SEM. La 0.95Eu 0.05PO 4 synthesized by precipitation method presented rhabdophane structure, whereas the hydrothermal method leads to rhabdophane phase when H 3PO 4 was added in the synthesis and a mixture of rhabdophane and monazite phases when KH 2PO 4 or Na 2HPO 4 were used. The annealing step at 550°C/1h led to the monazite phase stabilization. The luminescent properties of La 0.95Eu 0.05PO 4 samples were investigated. Source

The paper addresses the topic on morphostructural characterization of ultrafine particles generated in coal-based power plants, with special reference to Mintia-Deva power plant, Romania. The particles oxidic composition, concentration and size distribution were investigated. The concentration measurements have been performed based on light scattering for micro-sized particles and differential mobility analysis for nanometric scale. The highest values of oxide component concentration have been registered in the coal powders sampled from the work places at breaking room and on conveying belts. The dust composition mainly consisted of silica, and also iron, aluminum, calcium and magnesium oxides, with more than 25% SiO2, 10% Al2O3 şI 4%Fe2O3. Source

Present paper presents a study of the colorful glasses in the SiO2-Na2O-B2O3-K2O-ZnO system, to which there were added the borosilicate glass waste and copper oxide or nickel oxide from the sludge obtained from the electrochemical deposition industry. The use of borosilicate waste glass (that comes up with important components such as B2O3, CaO, Al2O3), leads to saving of raw materials and energy while being sustainable at the same time. Structural studies of the obtained vitreous materials were made, using FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. By controlled crystallization of glass samples from BaO - B2O3 - TiO2 system glass ceramics can be obtained, based on borates and barium titanate (β - BaB2O4 and BaTiO3), with potential uses in electronics and electrical engineering. In this paper are presented the obtaining and some properties of glasses from the ternary system BaO - B2O3 - TiO2, containing B2O3 between 20 and 50 molar%. For the obtained samples were determined density, thermal expansion coefficient, micro hardness, viscosity and hydrolytic stability. Determinations were also made by differential thermal analysis (DTA). The variation of the determined properties according to the oxide glass composition was explained. Source
