The synthesis of new 1,2,4-oxadiazoles derivatives is reported. The main target was 3-tert-butyl-5-[4-(4,4-dimethyl-4,5-dihydrooxazol-2-yl)phenyl]-1,2,4-oxadiazole (5), which was synthesized starting from 1,2,4-oxadiazol nitrile 1 in three steps. The target molecule 5 was investigated for antitumor activities in vitro, towards a panel of 12 cell lines using a monolayer cell survival and proliferation assay.
