The automation of hydroerosion manufacturing processes comes to increase the demands on engineering works in the preparation of production, at shortening of deadlines for implementation of scientific knowledge into practice, at the design of production processes and at the economization in production processes. This process is associated with extensive utilization of mathematical methods, using of computational procedures for specific tasks and at the utilization of methodology of mathematics for methods of formulating solutions. During the solving of problem, there is mostly used: operational analysis, set theory, theory of structures, theory of algorithms and languages. © 2016 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper focuses on the identification of talents as a strategic investment of logistics companies to increase their competitiveness in the future. The paper represents partial result of research aimed the identification of talents as the potential key managers in the specific conditions of logistics companies. Research question is how we can optimize the identification of the potential talents of logistics companies so that investment for their development will not be lost. There is a proposed use of SAAT’s pair wise comparison method for optimizing in the paper. This article deals with the design of functional elements in the warehouses of public logistics centers. The methodology focuses on the determination of the minimum area required for operating a warehouse, the resulting dimensions and internal organization of the warehouse (especially individual sectors within warehouses) and the calculation of the operational requirements for the handling means to be used in a warehouse. © 2015, University of Dubronvnik. Designing of buildings has undergone a real revolution in the last few decades. At first, it was a natural transition from drawings that were processed in pencil onto drawings by Indian ink on tracing paper, towards drawing’s board using virtual environment of personal computers and specialized software. Only few years went by, and third dimension (3D) has been added. Today, three-dimensional modeling of building elements has become important, as well. These elements with assigned attributes, that both further specify these elements, and express their interactions with other elements through the following additional information. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to clarify the principles of this technology, which has become known as Building Information Modeling (BIM), and to inform the reader about the basic principles and aspects of this technology. Part of the article has been devoted to analysis of case studies from the Czech Republic. © SGEM2015.

Sustainability is often overlooked in favor of other technical or humanitarian subjects in many civil/construction engineering programs. This has been noted not only by UNESCO but also by many eminent researchers in engineering education. To help address this issue, this paper presents approaches to introduce civil engineering students to sustainability issues by using a conceptual model based on the emerging issues of sustainability in the construction industry. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

This paper is dealing with the problem of extinguishing fire on ships and off-shore equipment characterized by high degree of danger caused by presence of explosive or life threatening substances. Special device Cold Cut System Cobra combining cutting possibility and production of water mist is presented. Its advantages and application possibilities are discussed. This fire extinguisher has been widely used for more than one decade but based on a literature search we suppose that its potential is not fully exploited in marine applications. In cooperation with fire-fighting rescue station in Silesian Ostrava laboratory measurement of reaction forces of Cobra slurry jet was realized at the Technical University of Ostrava. It was discovered that measured force was about 120 – 150 N therefore it represented approximately one third of the theoretical maximum value. The measured force appeared to change not only with the type of material but also with the thickness of the layer being cut, but the change was not significant from the point of view of handling the lance during intervention. Our research may deepen firefighter’s knowledge of the tool they are working with and therefore improve safety of their work. © 2016, University of Dubronvnik. All rights reserved.

The aim of this article is to analyse the involute gear of a ship´s gear pump. The gear applied in a direct gear is usually designed to comply with requirements for sustainability, reliability and operability under unfavourable working conditions. These requirements can be achieved by adjusting the axis distance, angular correction, as well as by rearranging the pressure angle.
