The submitted article deals with the problematic of the quality of life and factors which can influence it. On the basis of previous research we know that this is a complex problem which is characterized by a huge number of components and connections among them. We focused on the main areas which influence the quality of life and tried to describe the connections among them. The goal of this paper was not the experimental examination based on real data; however, creation of a framework and a basis for the future quality of life research in a region which should cover - if possible - all the main indicators of the quality of life and link to our previously realized researches in this area.

This paper deals with the use of fuzzy logic for building of classification models for the technical condition evaluation of bridge objects, both their superstructure and substructure. The proposed models have hierarchical architecture, built of the Mamdani's fuzzy inference systems. The models were validated on a data set of real bridges in operation. In the modelling process, the analysis of bridge rating methods in the Czech Republic and abroad was applied. The analysis of the number and shapes of input and output membership functions of given fuzzy sets was carried out, and the numbers of fuzzy inference rules were determined. On the basis of the achieved results, the utility of the presented method of soft computing in the evaluation of the bridge technical conditions was proved.

This paper focuses on the problem of quality of life (QL) modeling. As the target group were selected people with hearing problems in the locality of Pardubice region (NUTS 3) in the Czech Republic (CR). Based on narrower perception of the problem we can express quality of life by means of objective measuring and also by means of subjective opinions. And the subjective views were reflected in particular. The necessary data were obtained through a questionnaire survey of hearing-impaired persons. There are also modeled various aspects of quality of life for these people (based on obtained data), using various data mining methods.
