Molecularly imprinted polymer nanospheres (MIP) were prepared with Congo red as the template, methacrylic acid (MAA) as a functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the cross linker, azodiisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator, and acetonitrile as the porogen by precipitation polymerization. The morphology of MIP was characterized by SEM and TEM which showed that the diameter of MIP was nanometer grade (90 nm) and the shape was homogeneous. The specific surface area and pore volumes of MIP and NIP were examined through Brunauer-Emett-Teller method of nitrogen adsorption experiments. Then, the adsorption and selective recognition ability of MIPs were evaluated using the equilibrium rebinding experiments. The results indicated that the prepared MIP showed a good selectivity recognition ability to its template. A novel enzyme reactor was prepared using calcium alginate fiber (CAF) and amine-modified nanosized mesoporous silica (AMNMS) as a support. Combination of the adsorption of the enzyme on AMNMS with the cage effect of the polymer greatly increases the catalytic activity and the stability of the immobilized enzyme. It was shown that the lifetime, stability, and catalytic activity of the enzyme reactor were greatly improved by incorporating AMNMS into CAF to efficiently encapsulate the enzyme. Glucose oxidase was chosen as a model enzyme to explore the possibility of using CAF-AMNMS as a matrix for enzyme immobilization in the design of a chemiluminescence (CL) flow-through biosensor. The sensitivity of the flow-through biosensor combined with a novel luminol-diperiodatonickelate CL system was higher than for other reported CL biosensors. The proposed biosensor exhibits short response time, easy operation, long lifetime, high catalytic activity, high sensitivity, and simple assembly. © 2010 Springer-Verlag. Source

To study the mutagenicity and teratogenicity induced by ammonium dinitramide(ADN). According to technical specifications for toxicity determination of chemicals, Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay (Ames assay), in vivo mammalian erythrocyte micronucleus test, sperm malformation test and teratogenesis test were used to detect the mutagenicity and teratogenicity induced by AND. When the exposure doses of AND were 8-5000 pg/plate, the result of Ames assay was negative. As compared with control group, the micronucleus rate of mice exposed to 113.8 mg/kg AND significantly increased(P<0.05), the sperm malformation rates of mice exposed to 54.4-272.0 mg/kg AND did not increased significantly. The survival rate of fetuses decreased, the rate of assimilated fetuses increased, the rate of fetus sternum agenesis enhanced in mice exposed to 319 mg/kg AND, as compared with controls. The rates of in the 4th-6th fetus sternum agenesis in groups exposed to 21.3, 79.7 and 319 mg/kg AND were higher than that in control group. The malformation rate of fetus bowels in groups exposed to 319 mg/kg AND was higher than that in control group. The teratogenic index of ADN was 30. AND may be a mutagen and induce the teratogenic effect. Source

To study the acute, subacute and subchronic toxicity induced by ammonium dinitramide (ADN), and to ascertain the gradation and target organs of acute toxicity induced by AND. According to technical specifications for toxicity determination of chemicals, the oral tests for acute, subacute and subchronic toxicity induced by AND were performed for 90 days. The oral LDx for mouse and rat was 568.9 mg/kg and 616.6 mg/kg ADN respectively. The gradation of acute toxicity induced by AND was low level. The results of oral subacute and subchronic toxicity tests (for 28 and 90 days) showed that a gain in weight in group exposed to 123 mg/kg AND was significantly lower than that in control group (P<0.05), the TBIL and ALT in group exposed to 61.6 and 123 mg/kg AND significantly increased and the ratio of liver weight to body weight obviously decreased, as compared with control group, the number of animals with hepatic pathological changes in group exposed to 61.6 and 123 mg/kg AND was significantly higher than that in control group (P<0.05). The gradation of acute toxicity induced by ADN was low level. When the exposure dose of AND was 30.8 mg/kg, the adverse effect was not observed, and the target organ was liver. Source

Emergency relief systems for reducing risk of runaway reactions are being used as one of the most cost-effective technical measures. Therefore, in order to design the pressure relief system sizing, research on a 38.6% methanol-acetic anhydride was carried out based on the bench-scale Phi-TEC II calorimeter apparatus. Parameters of thermal behavior were measured with thermal inertia 1.1. Results show that self-heating decomposition temperature tends to be around 37°C, with its corrective heat of the reaction being 205.2 kJ · kg-1. The fitting equation obtained from experimental data is basically in accord with Antoine equation. The reactive system can be identified as a vapor system. The mass flow capacity and the average two-dimensional flowing capacity per cross-section unit area of the vent-line were determined by Leung's method and ERM. Thus, the required relief area was determined to be 1.36 × 10-3 m2. Thus, it is proved that the Phi-TEC II calorimeter can be used to supply the basic runaway chemical reaction data and in turn provide technical supports for the emergency relief system, which is helpful to improve the reliability of the safety relief design. © All Rights Reserved.
