A synthesis procedure for the fabrication of multi-component nano-structured refractory oxide powders and fibers was developed. In ZrO2(Y2 O3) - Al2O3 system, the nano-structured triple solid solutions were formed over the temperature range 600-1100°C. It had been shown that the solid solutions destructed higher 1100°C. This destruction and crystalline transformations caused size particle alumina to decrease. The size of refractory oxide crystallites was calculated and their dependences versus temperature were established. The physical-chemical properties of nano-structured powders were determined. This investigation permits us to regulate the production technology of fibrous and powder nano-structured refractory oxides purposefully. Nano-structured powders can be used as fillers for composite materials and for preparing ceramics. Source
