I n the modeling of eddy current problems, potential formulations are widely used in recent days. In this paper, the results of residual-based a posteriori error estimators, which evaluate the discretization error in the finite-element computation, are extended to the case of several kinds of source terms for both A/φ and T/Ω harmonic formulations. The definitions of the estimators are given and some numerical examples are provided to show the behavior of the estimators. © 2015 EU.

In this paper,we present a novel numerical approach forpredicting the fluid flowin a solid rocketmotor chamberwith burning propellant grain. We use a high-order technique to track the regressing grain surface. Spectral convergence toward the exact burning surface is achieved thanks to Fourier differentiation. For the computation of the internal chamber fluid flow, we make use of a body-fitted volume mesh deforming with the grain surface. We describe several methods to deformthe volume mesh and to keep good mesh element quality without global remeshing.We then couple the surface and volume approaches and integrate them into a complex code for compressible, multispecies, turbulent flow simulations. Thanks to these methods, we are able to exhibit one of the first three-dimensional simulations of the internal flow in a realistic solid rocket motor coupled to complex grain surface regression. In prior work, burning grain surface methods have only been coupled with one-dimensional internal ballistics solvers. © 2015 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc. A strategy of mesh adaptation in eddy current finite element modeling is developed from both residual and hierarchical error estimators. Wished distributions of element sizes of adapted meshes are determined from the element-wise local contributions to the estimators and define constraints for the mesh generator. Uniform distributions of the local error are searched. © 2015 IEEE.

We study the entanglement creation in the low-energy scattering of two particles in three dimensions, for a general class of interaction potentials that are not required to be spherically symmetric. The incoming asymptotic state, before the collision, is a product of two normalized Gaussian states. After the scattering, the particles are entangled. We take as a measure of the entanglement the purity of one of them. We provide a rigorous explicit computation, with error bound, of the leading order of the purity at low energy. The entanglement depends strongly on the difference of the masses. It takes its minimum when the masses are equal, and it increases rapidly with the difference of the masses. It is quite remarkable that the anisotropy of the potential gives no contribution to the leading order of the purity, in spite of the fact that entanglement is a second-order effect. © 2011 American Physical Society.

In an N-body quantum system with a constant electric field, by inverse scattering, we uniquely reconstruct pair potentials, belonging to the optimal class of short-range potentials and long-range potentials, from the high-velocity limit of the Dollard scattering operator.
