Gauze fabrics offer the possibility of manufacturing undulation-free cloths with adjustable fiber volume contents. It is possible to produce both mesh fabrics, as well as thick fabrics, with slip stability and drapability suited to what is required. The foundation for the expansion of product diversity and the basis for the tapping of new markets for gauze fabrics could be established. In addition to the synthetic fiber composites investigated in the framework of the project, application possibilities in further areas has opened up for gauze fabrics, like in injection molding reinforcement or conveyor belts. The Dresden research has set its goal to also develop in the future efficient and requirement-suitable gauze fabrics for fiber-reinforced composite raw materials.
