We have investigated the influence of an electric field in the form of a gas discharge on the flame pattern, the radiographic parameters of soot particles, and the yield of fullerenes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. It has been shown that an external electric field permits controlling the processes proceeding in the flame, as well as the soot formation, and even increasing the soot yield under certain conditions. It has been established that the height of the soot packet L c and the interplanar spacing d 002 remain unchanged with increasing voltage, which is confirmed by the absence of graphitization under the action of the electric field. It has been revealed that negative polarity has a stronger effect on the increase in the yield of fullerenes with increasing voltage applied compared to positive polarity. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc. We propose a classification of individual nanoparticles on the basis of the form of the surface and the internal architectural packing for investigations carried out with the help of transmission electron microscopy. The investigated samples contain individual nanoparticles of seven kinds in different ratios: rounded, tubular, fibrous, fi lm, "veil," "active" particles and "particles with regular geometric contours." The classification was made on the basis of an analysis of the results of investigations of the surfaces and internal architectural packing of carbon particles obtained in different physiochemical processes (carbonization, carburizing, arc discharge, mechanochemical treatment, plasma chemistry, and in carbon-containing fl ames). For the source materials, we used waste of farming products and widely distributed mineral raw materials. © 2014, Springer Science+Business Media New York. Source

This paper presents the results of experimental investigations of the dispersion of quartz particles with their simultaneous modification in a planetary-centrifugal dynamic mill depending on the variation of the time-force regimes of mechanochemical treatment. Nitrogen- and carbon-containing compounds were used as modifiers. The laws of change in the dispersivity, imperfection, and transformation of the surface layer structure and the morphological features of synthesized particles of the composite polymer/mineral structure in the process of mechanochemical treatment have been established. We have shown the relationship between the mechanical action and the piezoelectric response of the system to the process of modification of the newly formed surface of quartz particles and their capsulization into hetero-organic shells, whose composition and structure are determined by both the quality of the material-base and the kind of the modifier. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York. We have investigated the laws of refinement and modification of wollastonite particles in the process of mechanochemical treatment with the participation of nitrogen- and carbon-containing organic compounds. The features of formation of capsulizing layers on the surface of refined particles and their structure and morphology depending on the type of modifier have been determined. It has been established that mechanochemical treatment of wollastonite particles leads to an increase in their activity and the formation of polymer films of various configurations with the participation of carbon compounds. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media New York. We have investigated the laws of technological combustion of (SiO2 + Al) and (SiO2 + CaSiO3 + Al) systems with the combustion reaction activated by preliminary mechanochemical treatment of the charge components with various modifying additives containing bound water, carbon, and amino groups. It has been shown that modifying the charge components in the regime of mechanochemical treatment leads to a change in the induction period of ignition, the combustion kinetics, and the thermodynamic characteristics of the process, which promotes intensification of the development of redox reactions and more complete conversion of the charge mixture components. © 2014, Springer Science+Business Media New York.
