n this abstract, we present a methodology of prospective objects identification in Khadum formation based on joint study of rock physics modelling, new techniques of quantitative seismic interpretation, lineament analysis and fault-block zones allocation. Techniques for building detailed volumetric lithological model of the studied deposits based on the integrated study of geological and geophysical data are proposed. A detailed analysis of the input information allows to consider a rock type with high porosity as a prospective object, which can be identified using the "Vp/Vs ratio - acoustic impedance" cross-plot. This create the precondition for predicting prospective objects in the inter-well space using the results of seismic amplitude inversion. The map of perspective objects in Khadum formation in the study area was formed based on conducted research and the obtained results.

Authors propose guidelines for investigation of thin reservoirs in conditions of overlaying amplitude anomalies noise. The Mid-Jurassic rocks were deposited in different sedimentary environments. The lower part represents fluvial bodies deposited inland and in delta plain, and the upper part is transgressive shoreface sand. Small thicknesses of the sand bodies do not allow to be resolved in seismic due to the vertical resolution limitation. However, these bodies can be laterally resolved and mapped. The presence of coal beds and overlaying anomalous section of the Bazhen Suite complicates the interpretation. The proposed solutions include creation of the mask of the Bazhen Suite amplitude anomalies, combination of attribute analysis, inversion, Bayes probability classification and well data. The overlapped Bazhen mask with maps can filter the influence of the anomalous Bazhen Suite. As a result of the Bayes classification, the effective thickness map was formed. Shapes of the various attribute anomalies underline the lateral distribution of sand bodies and help in tracing of those. Well data provided facies control of the identified sand bodies. The applications of the proposed methods cover Shirotnoe Priobje region and other fluvial systems around the world, which are prospective in terms of discoveries of hydrocarbon accumulations.

New Geotechnology for the Old Oil Provinces | Year: 2013

A new oilfield in Achimov Formation was discovered in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area in 2010. The productive deposits penetrated by the wells are characterised by effective thicknesses of about 80 meters and about 40 meters net-pay thicknesses. The total estimated geological reserves and resources are more than 200 mln. tons. The reservoirs show wide range of porosity and permeability that makes a challenge for license holders to find new approaches for field development. Stages and results of 3D geological model building, reserves estimation are considered in this paper. Recommendations on launching the development of the oilfield are given.

Recently, a tendency of state-of-the-art technologies designed for prediction of HC reservoir properties basing on seismic and well log data to fail producing the expected results has been observed. This may be due to a number of objectively reasonable causes, namely, complexity of seismic and geological characteristics, reservoir is not enough contrast in terms of elastic properties, and insufficiency of input geological and geophysical information. This paper discusses the questions of seismic inversion feasibility assessment in the stage of planning a work and setting a problem. Before carrying out inversion transformations, the integrated performance of such procedures as seismic data quality assessment, petrophysical substantiation of seismic inversion, and forward modeling is recommended. All this will allow to eliminate unreasonable time and financial costs.

The article discusses the fundamental problem of estimating the cost of construction of oil and gas projects in Russia and solution of these problems based on company experience. Major problems of oil&gas projects costs evaluation are: lack of publicly open costs data, methodological differences, and different classification of construction objects. While working on optimization of cost evaluation process, Ingenix Group has developed its own approach to costs estimation. This approach includes own methodology and construction objects classification together with creating own costs database. Finally, it become a basis for developing cost estimation software Ingenix Cost Manager.
