The syndrome of hemispatial neglect is usually associated to a lesion of the brain and is characterized by a reduced or lack of awareness of one side of space, even though there may be no sensory loss. Although it is extremely common, it has proven to be a challenging condition both to understand and to treat. This paper focuses on reviewing this syndrome and proposing new therapies based on multisensory feedback in a virtual environment. These therapies have been designed to improve the awareness of the neglected side by using visual, auditory and haptic feedback. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.
