Hybrid evolutionary computational technique is developed to jointly estimate the amplitude, frequency, range, and 2D direction of arrival (elevation and azimuth angles) of near-field sources impinging on centrosymmetric cross array. Specifically, genetic algorithm is used as a global optimizer, whereas pattern search and interior point algorithms are employed as rapid local search optimizers. For this, a new multiobjective fitness function is constructed, which is the combination of mean square error and correlation between the normalized desired and estimated vectors. The performance of the proposed hybrid scheme is compared not only with the individual responses of genetic algorithm, interior point algorithm, and pattern search, but also with the existing traditional techniques. The proposed schemes produced fairly good results in terms of estimation accuracy, convergence rate, and robustness against noise. A large number of Monte-Carlo simulations are carried out to test out the validity and reliability of each scheme. © 2014 Fawad Zaman and Ijaz Mansoor Qureshi. Source

In this study, we apply Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) optimization to the problem of relay selection and transmit power allocation to selected relays in non-regenerative Relay Assisted Cognitive Radio Networks (RCRNs). The objective of our proposed scheme is to maximize the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) at the secondary destination while keeping the interference offered to the primary user below a certain threshold level. Teams are ranked to show their authority over each other. Existing methods rank the cricket teams using an ad-hoc points system entirely based on the winning and losing of matches and ignores number of runs or wickets from which a team wins. In this paper, adoptions of h-index and PageRank are proposed for ranking teams to overcome the weakness of existing methods. Each team is represented by a node in the graph with two teams creates a weighted directed edge between each other by playing a match and the losing team points to the winning team. The intuition is to get more points for a team winning from a stronger team than winning from a weaker team by considering the number of runs or wickets also in addition to just winning and losing matches. The results show that proposed ranking methods provide quite promising insights of one day and test team rankings. The effect of damping factor d is also studied on the performance of PageRank based methods on both ODI and test matches teams ranking and interesting trends are found. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. The peristaltic flow of a carbon nanotubes (CNTs) water fluid investigate the effects of heat generation and magnetic field in permeable vertical diverging tube is studied. The mathematical formulation is presented, the resulting equations are solved exactly. The obtained expressions for pressure gradient, pressure rise, temperature, velocity profile are described through graphs for various pertinent parameters. The streamlines are drawn for some physical quantities to discuss the trapping phenomenon. It is observed that pressure gradient profile is decreasing by increase of Darcy number (Formula presented.), becausy Darcy number is due to porous permeable walls of the tube and when walls are porous fluid cannot easily flow in tube, so that will decreases the pressure gradient. © 2016 World Scientific Publishing Company Source
