Power of renewable energies is increasingly produced by fluctuated energy sources like wind or solar. To replace the current electricity of mostly nuclear power and coal fired plants, there is a need of storage possibilities in times of low demand. In times of high demand the electricity could be delivered directly by turbines. Today only one technology cope with this economically and commercially: pump storage plants. They operate like big batteries in the grid and can protect grid stability.
