In order to study the corrosion resistance of chrome steel used in machines of copper ore, the tests have been done in simulative copper-slurry for chrome steel, including weight loss by static immersion, potential-time curves and anodic polarization curves in static state, respectively. The results show that the increasing of Cr content in chrome steel increases the corrosion resistance of chrome steel in the solution full of Cu 2+. When mass fraction of Cr is up to 13.0%-14.0%, some dense and corrosion resistant oxide layers are formed in the surface of the material, and its corrosion resistance increases quickly in the test solution. Corrosion behavior of 4 kinds of cast duplex stainless steels in surface seawater in Qingdao and Sanya were investigated. The results indicate that submerged zone corrosion is more serious than tide zone corrosion. All tested cast duplex stainless steels had no crevice corrosion in Qingdao submerged zone. CE3MN and ZG06Cr25Ni7Mo2N show excellent corrosion resistance in Qingdao seawater environment, and CE3MN also has excellent corrosion resistance in Sanya seawater environment. ©, 2015, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. To solve the problems in manufacturing of the largest duplex stainless steel impeller in the world, key technical measures were analyzed. Casting process includes gating system, riser, densener, smelt process, heat treatment process and welding procedure was presented. Test results indicate that the chemical composition and mechanical properties are qualified; and a 10 t duplex stainless steel impeller for sea water circulating pump in 1000 MW nuclear power station was successfully manufactured.
