Microhardness, tensile properties and tensile fracture morphology of 6082 aluminum alloy TIG welded joints used for rehabilitative equipment were investigated before and after cryogenic treatment. The results show that after solid solution treated at 540 ℃ for 50 min and water quenched and then cryogenic treated at -196 ℃ for 20 h, the tensile strength and plasticity of the aluminum alloy welded joint are improved significantly. The tensile strength increases by 61.3% and the elongation increases up to 3.5 times of that without cryogenic treatment. The microhardness of the welded joint becomes higher and the defects in the welded joint such as microporosity and loose are nearly eliminated. ©, 2015, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society of Heat Treatment.
