The conformal invariance and conserved quantity of Mei symmetry for a higher-order nonholonomic mechanical system are presented. Introducing an infinitesimal transformation group and infinitesimal generator vector, the definition of conformal invariance of Mei symmetry and the determining equation for the holonomic system which corresponds to a higher-order nonholonomic system are provided, and the relationship between Mei symmetry and conformal invariance of the system is discussed. The basis of restriction equations and additional restriction equations, the conformal invariance of weak and strong Mei symmetry for the higher-order nonholonomic mechanical system is constructed.With the aid of a structure equation that the gauge function satisfies, the system's corresponding conserved quantity is derived. The Gutman index (also known as Schultz index of the second kind) of a graph G is defined as Gut(G)=∑u,v∈V(G)d(u)d(v)d(u,v). A graph G is called a cactus if each block of G is either an edge or a cycle. Denote by C(n,k) the set of connected cacti possessing n vertices and k cycles. In this paper, we give the first three smallest Gutman indices among graphs in C(n,k), the corresponding extremal graphs are characterized as well. © 2014, Springer Science+Business Media New York. A dendrimer nanostar is a tree-like highly branched polymer molecule. Dendrimer nanostars are synthesized from monomers with new branches added in discrete steps to form a tree-like architecture. They have some proven applications, and numerous potential applications. Let G is a connected graph with vertex set V and edge set E, the Hosoya index of a graph is defined as the total number of its matchings. Prostate cancer is one of leading causes of male deaths in Europe and US and is becoming a dramatically increasing malignancy in Asian countries including China. This disease is related to hormone malfunction linked with androgen receptor cell signaling. Targeting androgen receptor has been a major strategy for treating this disease. Among these treatments, small molecules such as flutamide, bicalutamide and newly FDA-approved MDV3100 are the mainstay of drugs in clinical use. Interestingly, all of them are fluorine-containing compounds, indicating a unique role of fluorine atom on treating this cancer. In this mini-review, we summarize the prostate cancer-related cell signaling, chemistry and mechanisms of action of these drugs, highlighting the importance of fluorine chemistry on treating prostate cancer. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.
