WO 3 with various morphologies and crystal phases were prepared via a hydrothermal process in the presence of different Na 2SO 4 concentrations. Experimental results indicated that the preferred growth face ((200) crystal plane) of hexagonal WO 3 could adsorb abundant Na +, which induced the WO 3 growing along [001] crystal direction to form nanorods, and hexagonal phase WO 3 nanorods with diameter of 30-150 nm and length of 0.5-5 μm were obtained in the presence of 0.25 M Na 2SO 4, while excessive Na 2SO 4 led to a mixed crystal consisting of cubic H 2W 2O 7 and hexagonal WO 3. The photoactivities for O 2 evolution for various products were investigated by using Fe(NO 3) 3 as a sacrificial reagent under visible-light irradiation, and the hexagonal phase WO 3 nanorods show a better photoactivity than the other products with different morphologies and crystal phases due to its fast three-dimensional photogenerated carrier transfer along its special rod-shaped structure. © 2012 Elsevier Inc. The aim of our study was to determine aroma components of six commercial grape juice and their difference, the results could offer the reference for the quality control of grape juice. The aroma components were investigated by solid phase micro-extraction (SPME) followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) combined with principal component analysis, and the feasibility of using aroma components for qualitative and quantitative analysis of commercial pure grape juice was explored. A total of 113 compounds were identified from the sample extracts and the relative content was different; Characteristic aromas of grape juice were determined. Principle component analysis showed that ethyl butyrate, furfural, D-limonene, methyl 2-(methylamino) benzoate, (E)-1-(2, 6, 6-trimethyl-1, 3-cyclohexadien-1-yl)-2-buten-1-one, methyl anthranilate, a-damascone, 2, 6-di-tert-butyl-4-methyl phenol, (E)-3-hexen-1-ol, phenethyl alcohol, D-citronellol, β-ionone were the main discriminating variables for classification of grape juice aroma. The varieties of the aromatic constituents behaved similarly in six commercial grape juice, but the contents behaved differently. The difference of these aroma components resulted in the unique flavor characteristics of different brand of pure grape juice. © 2016, Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology. ZnO nanopowders were prepared through a direct precipitation method, and then dipped into Yb(NO 3) 3 aqueous solution to obtain the Yb 3+-doped ZnO nanoparticles. The obtained ZnO nanopowders and its Yb 3+-doped products were characterized by XRD, FESEM, HRTEM, XPS, diffuse reflection absorption spectrum and spectrophotometry. The experimental results show that the obtained ZnO nanoparticles after calcinations at 500°C are hexagonal crystal phase with narrower particle size distribution. Moreover, the samples were employed for the photodegradation of Rhodamine B in an aqueous suspension, and it was found that suitable Yb 3+-doping levels can efficiently improve the photocatalytic activity of the obtained ZnO nanoparticles.

CdS-TiO 2/rectorite nanocomposite was obtained through in-situ intercalation-exfoliation process of CdS-TiO 2. The microstructures and properties of the CdS-TiO 2/rectorite were characterized by means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), diffuse reflectance absorbance spectroscopy(DRS) and nitrogen adsorption-desorption measurement. The adsorption and photocatalytic properties of rectorite, TiO 2/rectorite and CdS-TiO 2/rectorite nanocompo-sites were comparatively investigated by Rhodamine B (RB) as simulated organic pollutant. The experimental results show that the CdS-TiO 2/rectorite nanocomposite exhibits more complicated porous structure, larger pore volume, specific surface area and more effective optical absorptivity, and therefore stronger adsorption ability and higher photocatalytic degradation activity as compared to the rectorite. The above results show a promising route for the application of the rare mineral rectroite.
