The interface microstructure in the joints of magnesium alloy AZ31 to Ti alloy by the laser welding-brazing (LWB) process have been investigated in this paper. The results indicated that the interface between the solder reaction and TC4 formed net and holes, there was a 1~2 μm intermetallic compound layer. Al-Mg-Zn compounds generated and distributed in the solder reaction zone. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Wood flour/polypropylene foamed composites with different content of wood flour were prepared using compression molding. The energy absorption properties of these foamed composites were investigated by the tests of static compression, cycle compression, compression creep and dynamic thermal mechanical analysis. The results show that properties such as energy absorbing capacity, energy absorbing efficiency parameter, the relaxation rate, circulation loss quantity, dynamic mechanical properties of foamed composites all first increase then decrease following with wood flour increasing. When the wood flour mass ratio is 30%, the energy absorption properties of foamed composites are the best.

Nickel-coated graphite particles and two-component silicone-rubber were compounded to form a conductive composite system. The electrical volume resistivity of the composites were examined and compared under constant tensile strains, cyclic heating-cooling, electric field and repeated cyclic tensile strains in order to study the mechanism of electrical conductivity behaviors of the conductive composites under stress, temperature and current. The results showed that a peak value of the electrical resistivity appeared previously and then gradually increasing with increasing tensile strain. The electrical resistivity displayed positive temperature coefficient effect during the temperature increasing and decreasing. Applying 5A direct current to the conductive composites resulted in an increase in the electrical resistance immediately, but no changes were detected under lower currents. Under the repeated cyclic strain, the peak value of the electrical resistivity of each cycle increased with the test cycle. All the electrical resistivity changes were attributed to the conductive networks broken-up and rebuilt in the conductive composites. © 2013 Wuhan University of Technology and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

In the study, wheat straw kraft pulp was prepared, then it was treated by xylanase and cellulase sequentially. The low molecular weight LCC was isolated from the enzymatic hydrolysis liquor using Gel Penetration Chromatography column. FT-IR and 2D-HSQC were employed to study the characteristic of the LCC. The results showed that LCC existed only in xylanase hydrolysis liquor (XHL).The analysis results of 2D-HSQC indicated that the LCC was formed by xylan and lignin connected by benzyl ether, phenyl glycoside and γ-ester bonds. It could also conclude that in xylanase hydrolysis process, xylan and the linkages of lignin-xylan in the kraft pulp could be degraded. ©, 2015, China Technical Association of Paper Industry. The piezoresistive properties of low-density polyethylene/ethylene-vinyl acetate/carbon black (LDPE/EVA/CB) conductive foam were studied. The result shows that the percolation threshold of LDPE/EVA/CB conductive foam is 21.6%. The conductivity and cell structure are the best when the content of CB is between 20% and 23%. A behavior of negative pressure coefficient of resistance(NPCR) turning to positive pressure coefficient of resistance(PPCR) exists under pressure. The conductive network are easier damaged by high frequency compression because the resistance curves change more stable in f=0.01 Hz than in f=0.25 Hz.The behavior of NPCR turning to PPCR is reversible due to the resistance curves of each cycle showing a “W”-type. It is believed that piezoresistive behaviors are involved in compression of material and tensile deformation of cell-wall. A piezoresistive model was proposed to explain the experimental results. ©, 2014, Power System Technology Press. All right reserved.

The static and dynamic mechanical behavior of two double network (DN) hydrogels, alginate/polyacrylamide (PAAm) hybrid hydrogel and sodium poly(2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid) PNaAMPS/PAAm, is presented to understand the role played by different cross-linked networks on fracture and recovery properties. Although with a smaller modulus, alginate/PAAm hybrid hydrogel had a much higher stretchability, whether with or without notches, in the tensile tests. Continuous step strain measurement by using a strain-controlled parallel-plate rheometer showed that alginate/PAAm can immediately recover its mechanical properties after breakdown, while PNaAMPS/PAAm didn't show mechanical recovery at all. © 2013 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.

Fast and accurate determination of effective bentonite content in used clay bonded sand is very important for selecting the correct mixing ratio and mixing process to obtain high-performance molding sand. Currently, the effective bentonite content is determined by testing the ethylene blue absorbed in used clay bonded sand, which is usually a manual operation with some disadvantages including complicated process, long testing time and low accuracy. A rapid automatic analyzer of the effective bentonite content in used clay bonded sand was developed based on image recognition technology. The instrument consists of auto stirring, auto liquid removal, auto titration,step-rotation and image acquisition components, and processor. The principle of the image recognition method is fi rst to decompose the color images into three-channel gray images based on the photosensitive degree difference of the light blue and dark blue in the three channels of red, green and blue, then to make the gray values subtraction calculation and gray level transformation of the gray images, and fi nally,to extract the outer circle light blue halo and the inner circle blue spot and calculate their area ratio. The titration process can be judged to reach the end-point while the area ratio is higher than the setting value. © 2016,Foundry Journal Agency. All rights reserved.

In this paper, corn stover was chosen as raw material and ethanol was used to pretreat it at the following condition: retention time 60 minutes at 160℃, S/L 1:8, ethanol concentration 50%. Then hemicellulose was extracted and purified from corn stover before and after ethanol pretreatment respectively. The results of corn stover's component analysis showed that during pretreatment 66.6% lignin and 61.3% extractives were removed, part of cellulose and hemicellulose were also degraded.According to the results,it was concluded that hemicellulose from corn stover was composed mainly with xylan, then arabinan, with trace amount of glucan and glactan.Besides, lignin and uronic acid were also present. The results of hemicellulose's component analysis showed that glucan from hemicellulose was the easiest to be degraded, then arabinan, xylan was the most stable in the process of ethanol pretreatment. And the content of uronic acid was not changed obviously during ethanol pretreatment. From the analysis of FT-IR,UV-V is spectrum and liquid chromatogram,it was found that hemicellulose from corn stover after ethanol pretreatment contained more -CH3 and -CH2-units,indicating that hemicellulose was degraded to some extent during the pretreatment process. In addition,a decrease in molecular weight and increase in polydispersity of hemicelluloses were the result of the degradation of hemicelluloses during ethanol pretreatment. ©, 2015, China Technical Association of Paper Industry.
