The male sexual dysfunction imposes a significantly negative burden in health, in the interpersonal relations, in self-esteem, and the quality of life of those suffering it. Up to at the end of the 80 decade, treatment was limited to psychosexual therapy and to penile implants and the cause was due to mainly to psychological factors. The appearance of oral inhibitors of phosphodiesterase-5 like the Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) in1998, was from its onsets a real revolution and now are the first choice for treatment of erectile dysfunction because it is well tolerated, effective, non-invasive and with a good response rate. In present paper authors made a review of the use of phosphodiesterases inhibitors in treatment of the erectile sexual dysfunction, as well as the relevant features of the drugs nowadays more used contributing to its knowledge and its prescription. The aim of present paper was to look for the more updated papers published in Pubmed and Medline. Phosphodiesterase inhibitors (Sildenafil, Vardenafil and Tadalafil) are the choice drugs in treatment of erectile dysfunction due to its demonstrated effectiveness, safety and tolerance.

Bacterial resistance to antimicrobials is a serious health problem at present, which compels us to change set concepts about the interpretation of the results from susceptibility tests, so it is essential to know and to apply a construed reading of the antibiogram. The purpose of this paper was to update and to disseminate existing knowledge about this topic, in addition to disclosing the benefits of put such pieces of knowledge into practice. Some of them are detection of new mechanisms of resistance, knowledge on the resistance epidemiology, better adequacy of antimicrobial treatme5nts, and hence, better quality and management of results. The construed reading of an antibiogram must be a clinical requirement for the microbiologist at the lab and for the attending physician.

An assessment is presented of the most recent trends in the use of prehospital triage as a crucial procedure to ensure survival in situations where many people are injured. A review was conducted of abstracts and full-text papers from PubMed database using Procite bibliographic reference manager, as well as full-text papers from Ebsco database. Google search engine was used to find references to the topic available on the Internet. It was found that despite the time elapsed from the Napoleonic Wars to the present, the use of triage has preserved its currency by updating its procedures and stating the need of reaching an international consensus on the introduction of a fifth classification category, that of "expectant", as well as the color identifying it. Evidence is also provided of the importance of appropriate training of triage personnel, the gradual introduction of computerized support systems, and the usefulness of triage despite its occasional ethical implications. It was confirmed that triage is a current procedure under permanent revision and updating which requires analysis on an international level to gather criteria and reach a consensus on recent proposals about categories, colors and classification tags, with the purpose of setting up a uniform international standard.

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of dental caries and the degree of association between oral health knowledge, oral hygiene and dental caries involvement. Methods: From March 2008 to March 2009, a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study was conducted in 100 young persons aged between 17 and 19 years suffering from tooth decay. Both sexes were included in the sample. Results: The prevalence of caries was 7.7 % in women and 8.6% in men. Most participants of both sexes had poor oral hygiene. In 24 (48 %) women and 34 (68 %) men, oral health was low. Statistically significant differences were found on oral hygiene, oral health knowledge, and involvement by dental caries. Conclusions: The prevalence of dental caries is high. The analyzed risk factors are associated with dental caries involvement.

Extremely high noise levels are characteristic of the military environment. Firearm detonations are considered to exceed the intensity of any industrial noise. The paper approaches the risk factors and vulnerabilities associated with exposure to noise in the military environment, as well as the most recent notions about noise-induced hearing injury and hearing protection. A review was conducted of the most representative papers on the topic using databases Medline and Hinari. Bibliography lists were searched for and created using Procite personal bibliographic reference manager. Google search engine was used to find references to the topic in journals, theses and Internet references. Results confirm the vulnerability of military personnel to suffer from noise-induced hearing injuries resulting from the high noise levels occurring in the military environment, the need to approach such injuries in a multidisciplinary manner, and the importance of implementing efficient hearing protection systems, with a view to improving the quality of life of persons exposed to noise and preventing hearing impairment, based on the certainty that prevention is always the best option.
