Amaranthus is a cosmopolitan genus comprising large number of species with many morphotypes cultivars/accessions having diversified morphological features. The species, morphotypes within Amaranthus are very closely related requiring microclassification even revision in present taxonomic status. Most of the works have been done employing grain Amaranthus and their putative ancestors applying morphological and molecular data. In present study along with morphological features, phenolic compounds (secondary metabolites), isozyme profile of acid phosphatase were applied to get comprehensive reflection of interrelationship and relative closeness among the species, morphotypes/accessions of few vegetable, grain and weed Amaranthus. Both the vegetable and grain Amaranthus are supposed to have originated from respective weed progenitor through occasional outcrossing and gradual domestication. The study strongly vouched the previous interpretations regarding interrelationship of grain Amaranthus and their derivation from their putative progenitor also showed clear separate clustering of vegetable and grain Amaranthus with their close relatives. A sharp congruence in cluster pattern was achieved between morphological dendrogram and cumulative dendrogram computed on morphological and biochemical parameters, which is a rare event in systematics. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V. In this paper, an inventory model of two-warehouse is considered with quadratically increasing demand and time varying deterioration. Comparing to the existing literature, the model is derived with finite replenishment rate and unequal length of the cycle time. The associated cost of the system is minimized. The vector type of interaction of the Thirring-Wess model was replaced by the chiral type and a new model was presented which was termed as chiral Thirring-Wess model in Rahaman (2015). The model was studied there with a Faddeevian class of regularization. Few ambiguity parameters were allowed there with the apprehension that unitarity might be threatened like the chiral generation of the Schwinger model. In the present work it has been shown that no counter term containing the regularization ambiguity is needed for this model to be physically sensible. So the chiral Thirring-Wess model is studied here without the presence of any ambiguity parameter and it has been found that the model not only remains exactly solvable but also does not lose the unitarity like the chiral generation of the Schwinger model. The phase space structure and the theoretical spectrum of this new model have been determined in the present scenario. The theoretical spectrum is found to contain a massive boson with ambiguity free mass and a massless boson. © 2015 Elsevier Inc. Source

Imbibitional heat and chilling stress caused disruption of redox-homeostasis and oxidative damage to newly assembled membrane system by aggravating membrane lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation [measured in terms of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), free carbonyl content (C=O groups) and membrane protein thiol level (MPTL)] along with concomitant increase in accumulation of reactive oxygen species (superoxide and hydrogen peroxide) and significant reduction of antioxidative defense (assessed in terms of total thiol content and activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase and glutathione reductase) in both the salt sensitive (Ratna) and resistant (SR 26B) germinating tissues of rice cultivars. When compared, salt resistant cultivar SR 26B found to suffer significantly less oxidative membrane damage as compared to salt sensitive cultivar Ratna. Treatment with low titer of hydrogen peroxide caused significant reversal in oxidative damages to the newly assembled membrane system imposed by imbibitional heat and chilling stress (evident from the data of TBARS, C=O, MPTL, ROS accumulation, membrane permeability status, membrane injury index and oxidative stress index) in seedlings of both the cultivars of rice (Ratna and SR 26B). Imbibitional H2O2 pretreatment also caused up-regulation of antioxidative defense (activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase and total thiol content) in the heat and chilling stress-raised seedlings of experimental rice cultivars. When the parameters of early growth performances were assessed (in terms of relative growth index, biomass accumulation and vigor index), it clearly exhibited significant improvement of early growth performances of both the rice cultivars. Better response towards H2O2-mediated acclamatory performances and restoration of redox- homeostasis under extremes of temperature were noticed in salt sensitive rice cultivar Ratna compared to salt resistant SR 26B. Taken as a whole, the result suggests the significance of the role of 'inductive pulse' of H2O2 in acclimatizing adverse temperature stress by restoration of redox-homeostasis and mitigation of oxidative membrane protein and lipid damages during the recovery phase of post-germination event. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media B.V. Replacing vector type of interaction of the Thirring-Wess model by the chiral type a new model is presented which is termed here as chiral Thirring-Wess model. Ambiguity parameters of regularization are so chosen that the model falls into the Faddeevian class. The resulting Faddeevian class of model in general does not possess Lorentz invariance. However we can exploit the arbitrariness admissible in the ambiguity parameters to relate the quantum mechanically generated ambiguity parameters with the classical parameter involved in the masslike term of the gauge field which helps to maintain physical Lorentz invariance instead of the absence of manifestly Lorentz covariance of the model. The phase space structure and the theoretical spectrum of this class of model have been determined through Dirac's method of quantization of constraint system. © 2015 Elsevier Inc. Source
