Pteroptyx maipo sp. nov. is the first record of the genus Pteroptyx Olivier from mainland China and Hong Kong and represents the most northerly record for this genus. The description includes all life stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult, and covers special structures such as the female bursa plates and male copulatory clamp. Details of habitat, male courtship flash patterns and male-female courtship behaviour are described. This species is the second in the genus Pteroptyx found to use a copulatory clamp, which functions to wedge the mating pair together. A complete clamp however does not appear necessary for successful insemination. Bursa plates hold the spermatophore partially projecting into a spermatophore-di-gesting gland. Other functions for the plates are investigated and discussed. The deflexed elytral apex appears after eclosion in the adult male. Mechanisms for the loss of ventrite 8 in the male abdomen are explored. A list of the 30 Pteroptyx species recognised here, with habitats, some morphological characteristics and a key to species of the Oriental Pteroptyx are provided. Copyright © 2011 - Magnolia Press.

A new genus of stick insects, Brockphasma Ho gen. nov., with the type-species, Brockphasma spinifemoralis Ho, Liu, Bresseel & Constant spec. nov., is described and illustrated from Vietnam. Both sexes, the egg and the first instar nymph are described and figured. Data on the habitat and natural foodplants are provided. Brockphasma Ho gen. nov. is differ-entiated from other genera in Neohiraseini by spinose occiput, anterior region of mesonotum with a spinose hump and spinose anterodorsal and posterodorsal carinae of femora. A key to the genera of Neohiraseini from Vietnam is given. Copyright © 2014 Magnolia Press.

A new species, Entoria hei sp. nov, is described and illustrated. Notes on the status of the genus from Hong Kong are given. A key and important figures of the Entoria species of Hong Kong are provided.

There are nine Necroscia species recognized in China, among which N. inflata (Redtenbacher) and N. marginata (Gray) are reported for the first time from China. One new synonym is discovered: N. maculata (Chen & He) is regarded as a junior synonym of N. multicolor (Redtenbacher) n. syn. First description is given for the female and egg of N. hainanensis (Chen & He) n. comb., which is transferred from Sosibia Stål. A list and key to all Chinese species are given.

Three genera and six species of the tribe Neohiraseini Hennemann & Conle from continental China are recognized and discussed. Key to the genera and species of the tribe is provided. A new genus and species, Cheniphasma serrifemoralis gen. n., sp. n., from Guangdong are described. The female of Neohirasea guangdongensis Chen & He is described for the first time. © Entomologica Fennica. 5 December 2012.

Micaelina cheni sp. n. is described and illustrated. It differs from other Micadina species by its unique spoon-shape of cerci. A key is given to males of all Chinese Micadina species. © Entomologica Fennica. 5 December 2012.

A catalogue of the phasmids of Hainan Island, China is provided. This study presents 25 genera and 59 species. A new genus, Pseudoparamenexenus gen. nov., is erected for Paramenexenus yangi Chen & He, 2002 including the first descriptions of male and egg. One new species with two new subspecies, Marmessoidea hainanensis hainanensis sp. nov. & subsp. nov. and M. h. yinggelingensis subsp. nov., are described. Three combinations are suggested for Pseudoparamenexenus yangi (Chen & He, 2002) comb. nov. from Paramenexenus Redtenbacher, 1908; Asceles bidentatus (Chen & He, 2008) comb. nov. and Scionecra pseudocerca (Chen & He, 2008) comb. nov. from Aruanoidea Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893 (= Necroscia Audinet-Serville, 1838). Asceles diadema Redtenbacher, 1908, is reported for the first time from China. Three species are first recorded in Hainan including Necroscia multicolor (Redtenbacher, 1908), Necroscia shukayi (Bi, Zhang & Lau, 2001) and Sipyloidea biplagiata Redtenbacher, 1908. A list and key to the species of Sinophasma Günther, 1940 and Pachyscia Redtenbacher, 1908 are provided. Four new species, Sinophasma bii sp. nov., S. daoyingi sp. nov., S. guangdongensis sp. nov. and Pachyscia heishidingensis sp. nov., from China are described and illustrated. One new synonym and one new combination are established: Sinophasma rosarum Chen & He, 2008 is shown to represent the female of S. jinxiuense Chen & He, 2008 (syn. nov.); and Pachyscia longicauda (Bi, 1990) (comb. nov.) is transferred from Sinophasma. The male of Pachyscia dilatata (Chen & He, 2004) is described for the first time. Copyright © 2012 Magnolia Press.
