Atrazine (ATR) is one of the most widely detected contaminant in the ecosystem. Nuclear xenobiotic receptors are activated by herbicides and induce the transcription of CYP450 isoforms involved in xenobiotic metabolism and transport. However, little is known about hepatic nuclear xenobiotic receptors in birds are responsible for ATR-induced hepatotoxicity via regulating the cytochrome P450 enzyme systems (CYP450s). The objective of this study was to investigate the mechanism of ATR hepatotoxicity in quails. For this purpose, male quails were dosed by oral gavage from sexual immaturity to maturity with 0, 50, 250, and 500 mg/kg/day ATR for 45 days. The results showed that ATR exposure caused the hepatotoxicity damage and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) degeneration. It suggested that ER is a target organelle of ATR toxicity in hepatocytes. ATR exposure disrupted the hepatic CYP450s homeostasis. This study also demonstrated that ATR triggered the CYP450 isoforms transcription via activating the hepatic CAR/PXR pathway. The present study provides new insights regarding the mechanism of the ATR-induced hepatotoxicity through activating nuclear xenobiotic receptors and triggering ER stress and hepatic CYP450s in quails. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Hucho taimen (Pallas) is an indigenous and endangered cold-water fish in China. To access the genetic diversity of wild breeding parents of this species and promote its breeding selection program, 12 polymorphic EST-SSR markers were developed from its cDNA library by (CA)16 probe and were analyzed on 66 wild breeding parents. The number of alleles per locus (Na), expected heterozygosity (He) and polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 2 to 9, 0.2019 to 0.8542 and 0.1802 to 0.8312 respectively. In total, a new and economical method for EST-SSR was established. The EST-SSR markers characterized in this study will strengthen our interpretation of Hucho taimen and facilitate its breeding selection program to improve the endangered statue of this species.

To analyze the nutritional components in muscle of five varieties of Oncorhynchus mykiss. Conventional and biochemical analytical methods were used. The content of crude protein, lipid, ash was 16.08-20.98,2.06-3.96 and 1.42-1.62%, respectively. The total content of amino acids was 63.29-71.03%, eight essential amino acids 26.27-29.76%, four delicious amino acids 23.72-26.31%. There were 21 classes (29 kinds) of fatty acids. The content (of total fatty acid) of unsaturated fatty acids was 76.86-81.18% in which the content of EPA+DHA was 4.58-13.19%. The five varieties of Oncorhynchus mykiss belong to super cultured ones involved in high nutritional and economic value and worth to explore for food. © 2012 Medwell Journals.

Metaphase chromosome specimens of Hucho taimen injected with PHA and colchicin, were prepared from shortterm culture of kidney cells with air-drying technique. Its diploid chromosome number is 2n = 84. The karyotype formula proposed for Hucho taimen was 2n =18m+16sm+34st+16t, and the arm number was NF=118.

The ordering and orientation of genomic scaffolds to reconstruct chromosomes is an essential step during de novo genome assembly. Because this process utilizes various mapping techniques that each provides an independent line of evidence, a combination of multiple maps can improve the accuracy of the resulting chromosomal assemblies. We present ALLMAPS, a method capable of computing a scaffold ordering that maximizes colinearity across a collection of maps. ALLMAPS is robust against common mapping errors, and generates sequences that are maximally concordant with the input maps. ALLMAPS is a useful tool in building high-quality genome assemblies. An investigation was conducted on the community structure of macrozoobenthos in the main stream of Songhua River in spring(April and May), summer(July and August), and autumn(from September to November), and the water quality of the main stream was assessed with biotic indices. A total of 116 species of macrobenthos were collected, belonging to 36 families and 16 orders, among which, aquatic insects had the largest number, with 74 species(63.8% of the total) belonging to 21 families and 6 orders. The annual average density and biomass of the macrobenthos were 66.80 ind·m-2 and 24.30 g·m-2, respectively. The average density was the highest(90.52 ind · m-2) in spring, followed by in autumn(61.26 ind · m-2), and in summer(48.63 ind·m-2), while the average biomass was the highest(35.35 g·m-2) in autumn, followed by in summer(23.12 g·m-2), and in spring(14.41 g·m-2). The Shannon index, Pielou index, and Simpson index were the highest in spring, and were nearly the same in summer and autumn. Few species inhabited in the same types of microhabitats in all river sections. The species similarity in all sections was lower, with the largest similarity being only 60%. The species quantity of each functional feeding group was near, with 26 shredders, 32 collectors, 28 scrapers, and 30 predators. The water quality assessed with biotic index(BI) and family biotic index(FBI) was basically coincident with each other, and was accordant with chemical monitoring. The water quality above the Harbin Section of Songhua River was fair, and that below the Harbin Section was contaminated or seriously contaminated. It was presumed that the macrobenthos species composition and community structure had been affected due to the building of ship-electricity hinge in Dadingzi Mountain.
