There are three AgI cations, three p-toluene-sulfonate (pts) anions, three hexa-methylene-tetra-mine (hmt) molecules and four water molecules in the asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, {[Ag 3(C7H7O3S)3(C 6H12N4)3(H2O)] ·3H2O}n. Two of the pts anions show positional disorder of their O atoms in 0.60:0.40 and 0.50:0.50 ratios. The AgI ion is coordinated by three hmt molecules in an approximate trigonal-planar AgN3 arrangement. In each case, longer Ag - O bonds to a water molecule and a pts anion complete a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal AgN 3O2 geometry for the metal ion. In the crystal, the bridging hmt molecules and pts ions generate a wave-like layer parallel to (001) and O - H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions consolidate the packing.

A novel two-dimensional→three-dimensional CuII coordination polymer, {[Cu2(C10H14N4)5](NO3)4·4H2O} n , based on the 1,1'-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(1H-imidazole) (biim) ligand and containing one crystallographically unique CuII atom, has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The CuII atom is coordinated by five N atoms from biim ligands, one of which has crystallographically imposed inversion symmetry, giving rise to a slightly distorted CuN5 square-pyramidal geometry. The CuII cations are linked by biim ligands to give a 44 layer; the layers are further bridged by biim ligands, generating a double sheet with a thickness of 14.61Å. The sheet features rhombic Cu4(biim)4 windows built up from four CuII centers and four biim ligands with dimensions of 14.11 × 14.07Å2. Each window of a layer is penetrated directly by the biim ligand of the adjacent net, giving a two-dimensional→three-dimensional entangled framework. © 2014.

A new method of die surface modification by ordinary Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is described. First, the surface modification mechanism by EDM is studied, which is different with ordinary EDM. Secondly, the influence of important electric parameters on the effect of electric discharging coating in working fluid is analyzed, which is helpful to improve the coating layer. At last, the new type special pulse power supply with additional pulse current is designed. The special pulse power supply for electrical discharge coating behaves well, and the compacted coating layer without cracks deposited on the surface of die by EDM can be obtained, which can prolong the life of die. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
