The synergistic scale inhibition effect of rare-earth permanent magnetic material and polyaspartic acid is studied. The performance of synergistic scale inhibition is studied in different magnetic field intensity, water hardness and rate of concentration. Static and dynamic scale inhibition tests show that the two water treatment ways have good synergistic scale inhibition effect. The scale inhibition performance of polyaspartic acid can be increased greatly by the magnetization of water. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications. Source

Polyaspartic acid (PASP) composite material, a scale and corrosion inhibitor, is prepared from PASP, acrylic acid-acrylic ester- itaconic acid tripolymer (IA-AA-AE) and 2-phosphonobutane- 1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid (PBTCA). The scale inhibition effects of PASP and PASP composite are investigated. Calcium carbonate crystals in scale samples are characterized by means of SEM. Experimental results show that the scale inhibition rate can reach 98.7 % and corrosion inhibition rate 96.5 % under the conditions of Ca2+ 639 mg.L-1 and PASP composite material 40 mg.L-1. SEM results show that calcite and aragonite can be transformed into vaterite completely by using PASP composite material. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. Source

An itaconic acid copolymer with scale inhibition, corrosion inhibition and dispersion was synthesized. The synergistic scale inhibition of the copolymer (IA/SHP/SAS) with electrostatic field was studied. The results of the static experiments showed that, under the conditions of electrostatic voltage 5 kV, water bath temperature 60℃ and the copolymer dosage 8 m g/L, the static scale inhibition rate was enhanced by 20.7%. In the dynamic experiments, after treatment with electrostatic fi eld (40℃), the scale inhibition was enhanced by 12.6% and the content of aragonite type CaCO3 in the scale increased obviously. The synergism of IA/SHP/SAS with the electrostatic fi eld could improve the distorting and dispersing effects of IA/SHP/SAS on CaCO3 crystals, and then the solubility of CaCO3 was enhanced. It was showed that, under the synergistic effect, the corrosion inhibition rate to A3 carbon steel was 93.1% and the light transmittance of the solution with dispersed Fe2O3 was 65.7% (IA/SHP/SAS dosage 30 mg/L).
