Development of steel used for tinplate and tinplate annealing technology were reviewed in this paper. Generally, low carbon steel is used as substrate in tinplate production, which requires low heterogeneous defects such as residual elements, inclusion and segregation. Grain size, solution strengthening, second-phase strengthening, grain shape and orientation are controlled by annealing. Aging resistance and stamping ability can be enhanced effectively by R-OA process in continuous annealing. Ultra-thin tinplate can be produced by double cold reduction technology. Source

Based on the geometry and shape detection theory, the shape signal compensation model for installation error of the detection roll was established. Combined with two installation methods of the fixed wrap angle and the variable wrap angle, comprehensive compensation of the cold rolling strip shape signal was done based on the horizontal error and the vertical error. For the fixed wrap angle, the shape compensation amount could be set to a constant. For the variable wrap angle, dynamic compensation amount must be calculated based on the dynamically wrapping angle formula. Based on the theoretical analysis and practical industrial datum, suitable allow installation error could be developed by mill characteristics to maximize shape detection accuracy, and comprehensive compensation shape curve could more realistically reflect the actual shape status of online cold rolling strip. For example of a 1050 mill, the horizontal tilt amount was recommended less than 0.03 mm, the vertical tilt amount was controlled in less than 0.05 mm, the basic shape control technology requirements could be satisfied. In the shape detection process of the cold rolling strip, the strip edges on both sides often couldn't completely just cover a complete shape detection channel, so the edge shape error compensation model was established for this phenomenon. Using the model, channel coverage of the edge portion can be calculated according to the lateral shift amount of the strip automatically. Combined with two methods of the proportional compensation and the slope compensation, the shape signal error can be compensated based on its reasonable edge portion of the cold rolling strip. Physical testing and industrial datum show the method is reliable and effective. Source
