In this wave generator (5) for a strain wave gearing (1), a plug (6) thereof is configured from a plurality of split plug segments (12-14) that are joined in the axial direction. Wave gearings (8-10) are installed to the split outer peripheral surfaces (12a-14a) of the split plug segments (12-14) by press fitting, and thereafter the split plug segments (12-14) can be joined in the axial direction. It is possible to easily produce the wave generator (5) in which a plurality of wave bearings (8-10) are press fitted, in parallel arrangement, on the non-circular outer peripheral surface (7).

A rotation actuator (1) is equipped with a motor (2) and a reduction gear (3) disposed adjacent to each other. Both shaft end portions of a rotating shaft (5), which passes through the center of the motor (2) and reducer (3), are rotatably supported through first and second rolling bearings (14,15) by first and second fixed discs (11,12) that are mutually fastened and fixed. A rotation output plate (4) is supported through a third rolling bearing (18) in the outer peripheral surface of the second fixed disc (12). A sliding ring (19) is mounted between the rotation output plate (4) and the first fixed disc (11). The sliding ring (19) functions as a thrust bearing for the rotation output plate (4) and also functions as a sealing mechanism for preventing grease from flowing from the reducer gear (3) to the outside. A flat rotation actuator can be achieved.

An externally toothed gear of a dual-type strain wave gearing is provided with first and second external teeth (7, 8) having different teeth numbers. The first and second external teeth (7, 8) are flexed by a wave generator by the same flexing amount, into an ellipsoidal shape. The average pressure angle (1) of main-tooth-surface sections of tooth profiles (70) of the first external teeth (7) having a low teeth number is less acute than the average pressure angle (2) of main-tooth-surface sections of tooth profiles (80) of the second external teeth (8) having a high teeth number. Accordingly, a dual-type strain wave gearing can be achieved with which the first and second external teeth having different teeth numbers can be suitably flexed to form excellent meshing states with respective internally toothed gears.

To run each elementary process, a Virtual Machine is created and allocated on each physical machine. The Virtual Machine is created in order to have a computing capacity at least equal to a computing load of the elementary process.

The computing capacity is estimated by iteratively adding and removing calibrated computer processes on the machine, and performing a sum of computing loads of processes that execute on the machine. A video encoding system and method down-filters an incoming video signal to a subresolution before encoding by a standard block based encoding algorithm. The selection of the resolution to which the incoming signal is down filtered is determined on the basis of a prediction of the video quality that may be expected at the system output with regard to the complexity or entropy of the signal. The predicted output video quality may be estimated on the basis of the Quantization Parameter of an encoder receiving the input video signal, or a filtered video signal. The selection of a new down-filtered resolution may be carried out with regard to one or more thresholds.

In a non-excitation operative brake (10), a friction plate (2) faces the inner disk part (11a) of an attraction plate (11) made from a magnetic material, and an electromagnet (13) faces the outer disk part (11c) of the attraction plate (11). A part for generating a brake force acting on a hollow shaft (3) is located on an inner circumferential side in a radial direction of the attraction plate (11), while a part for magnetically attracting the attraction plate (11) so as to release the brake force is located on an outer circumferential side in the radial direction of the attraction plate (11). A flat non-excitation operative brake having a reduced length in the direction of an axis line (3a) can be realized.

A strain wave gearing device (1) has a grease temperature control mechanism (15) for controlling the grease temperature of a portion of grease (16a), of the grease (16) filled inside an externally toothed gear (6) of the strain wave gearing device, the portion of the grease being disposed on the outer peripheral side portion of a wave generator (7). The grease temperature control mechanism (15) has a circular heater (17) facing the outer peripheral side portion of the wave generator (7) over the entire circumference from a direction of a device central axis line (1a). By controlling the grease temperature of a specified portion inside the externally toothed gear (6), it is possible to reliably start the strain wave gearing device even in an extremely low temperature environment where the grease solidifies.

A wave generator (4) of a strain wave gearing has a rigid plug (42) provided with an elliptical outer peripheral surface (41), and a roller bearing (43). The outer peripheral surface (41) of the plug (42) is provided with a major-axis-side outer-peripheral surface portion (41a) formed at a major axis position L1, and a minor-axis-side outer-peripheral surface portion (41b) formed at a minor axis position L2. The major-axis-side outer-peripheral surface portion (41a) is a tapered surface that is tapered along a center axis line (42a), and the minor-axis-side outer-peripheral surface portion (41b) is an inverted tapered surface that is tapered in the opposite direction. An externally toothed gear can be supported and flexed into an elliptical shape without partial contact by using the wave generator in which the roller bearing is used.
