In this study, novel nano- or submicron-scale tourmaline bacteriostatic ceramics in which nano or submicron tourmaline is one of the central materials, together with nano-zinc oxide, are prepared using ion exchange and solid-phase synthesis techniques. The material is then examined with IR, XRD and XPS and is tested for the ability to inhibit the activity of the sulfate-reducing bacterium (SRB). The calcination temperature of the ceramic is 600 °C, and the main components are present at 11.17% for Si2p, 3.12% for Mo3d, 3.47% for Zn2p3, 2.86% for Mn2p and 2.35% for Cu2p. Additionally, the density of this material is 1.4-3.5 g/cm3, and its compressive strength exceeds 5.2 MPa, meeting the requirements of ceramic standards. Consequently, the bacteriostatic ceramic inhibits the activity of the sulfate-reducing bacterium effectively without inhibiting the removal of COD and NO3 -. These results indicate that the sulfate-reducing bacterium maintains its functional metabolism, apart from its sulfate reduction potential, when using this bacteriostatic ceramic, thus achieving the goal of inhibiting the action of the sulfate-reducing bacterium. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Amino acids play fundamental roles in the cell both as the building blocks of new proteins and as metabolic precursors. To adapt to their limitation during periods of protein starvation, multiple adaptive mechanisms have evolved, including a rapid cessation of new protein synthesis, an increase in amino acid biosynthesis and transport, and autophagy. Here, we discuss what we currently know about how amino acid limitation is sensed, and how this sensing might be transmitted to mTORC1 to regulate protein synthesis and autophagy. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd.

The future Internet of Things as an intelligent collaboration of miniaturized sensors poses new challenges to security and end-user privacy, the security in the IOT is one of the core technologies that will influence the security and sustainable development of the IOT. Therefore, a well-defined security architecture and security system for the IOT will have great impact on the save application and sustainable development of the IOT. This paper tends to analyze the security requirements in different layers of the IOT, and hence establish a security architecture system for the IOT, expecting to offer a theoretical reference for the establishment of reliable security systems of information for the IOT in the future. © 2012 IEEE.

Methanotrophs are aerobic microorganisms that utilize methane as substrates for growth and PHB Biosynthesis. Copper plays an important role in cell growth and PHB biosynthesis. The effect of initial copper concentration on cultivation of M. trichosporium IMV 3011 on methane was investigated. With the addition of 30μmol/L CuSO4·5H2O, PMMO activity improved to 4 times of that without copper addition. The highest density of cultivated cells is 0.48g dry wtL-1, which is 2 times of that without copper addition. The lag time shortened to 15.87h, and the growth rate increased to 0.082h-1.The PHB content increased to 8.3%. It is found that certain initial copper concentration is beneficial to expression of high particulate methane monooxygenase activity, which may contribute to the synthesis of PHB in the cell. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The stabilization approach for the discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy control system is studied in this paper. Firstly, a concept of the efficient maximal overlapped-rules group (EMORG) is defined, and then a discrete-time piecewise fuzzy Lyapunov function is constructed in each EMORG. Based on the method of parallel distributed compensation, a new stabilization condition for the closed-loop discrete-time fuzzy control system is proposed. This condition only requires finding local positive definite matrices in each EMORG. Compared with former stabilization approaches, this approach can not only overcome the defect of finding a common positive definite matrix but also reduce the number of solving Lyapunov inequalities largely. Finally, a simulation example shows the approach is effective and advantageous.

As service outsourcing is growing, there is a focus on the formation and development of service supply chain. One of the key elements of service supply chain is concerned with the service quality surveillance. In the paper a service supply chain composed of one service supplier and one service integrator was proposed and a Bayesian Nash equilibrium model under asymmetric information was established based on a basic model of quality surveillance and an equilibrium result obtained. And the impact on service quality surveillance was considered with a factor that the service integrator would be punished and the result of the Bayesian Nash equilibrium was realized. Simulation results showed that the quality completion level of service supplier rise up and the quality surveillance level of integrator bring down as above factor introduced. Therefore, in practice, the level of service can be improved effectively and the whole quality of services outsourcing would be enhanced through strengthening the punishment of integrator.

The relationship between environmental protection and economic development has long been a controversial issue. This paper presents a literature survey on Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC), which includes genesis, explanations and empirical evidence of EKC. The conclusion of this paper are, on the one hand, some factors are key reasons to EKC, including income elasticity of environmental quality demand, scale, technological and composition effects, international trade, FDI and history accidents, etc., on the other hand, from the empirical literature of EKC, the environmental quality indicators improved with public health. Moreover, Different data type will lead to different empirical result, so it is important to choose suitable indicators and data. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Salvia miltiorrhiza is a well-known traditional Chinese herb, belongs to the family of Labiatae, is used in many parts of the world to treat various conditions due to their excellent medicinal values. It is rich sources of tanshinone I, tanshinone II, miltirone and salvianolic acid and a wide range of chemical compounds. Extracts of the plant, particularly those from the root, possess useful pharmacological activities. Particular attention has been given to anti-oxidant activity, anti-microbial activity, antivirus activity, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, cardiovascular disease and so on. An account of chemical constituents and biological activities is presented and a critical appraisal of the ethnopharmacological issues is included in view of the many recent findings of S. miltiorrhiza. The aim of this review is to up-date and to present a comprehensive analysis of traditional uses, pharmacological reports and phyto-constituents isolated from the plant. © 2010 Academic Journals.

Green supply chain management of agricultural products, whose establishment of trace ability is important, but the lack of appropriate information technology supported in the past. Green agricultural supply chain trace ability system should be established to provide a guarantee with the development of the internet of things. Analysis based on the internet of things in the green agricultural supply chain applications, we can draw the following conclusions: Firstly, the internet of things has been gradually manifest advantage in the green supply chain management of agricultural products, and represents the future direction of agricultural information. Secondly, the current of the internet of things between applied research and practical applications there is a gap in the agricultural supply chain. The Internet of Things in China some of the key technology is still in training stage in the green agricultural application of supply chain management. In order to ensure the uninterrupted supply of items, the suppliers' performance needs to be evaluated periodically. The evaluation process typically consists of identifying the attributes and criteria relevant to the decision, and measuring the performance of a supplier by considering the relevant criteria. But the evaluation process is complex. Linguistic assessment of suppliers may be carried out based on several criteria. Much of the data are difficult to obtain and ambiguous or vague to interpret. Nonetheless, a rational process of evaluation must exist to select the most appropriate suppliers. This paper develops a supplier evaluation approach based on the analytic network process (ANP) and fuzzy synthetic evaluation under a fuzzy environment. The importance weights of various criteria are considered as linguistic variables. These linguistic ratings can be expressed in triangular fuzzy numbers by using the fuzzy extent analysis. Fuzzy synthetic evaluation is used to select a supplier alternative and the Fuzzy ANP (FANP) method is applied to calculate the importance of the criteria weights. Then an integrated FANP and fuzzy synthetic evaluation methodology is proposed for evaluating and selecting the most suitable suppliers. A hypothetical example is presented and the results indicated that the combination of ANP and fuzzy synthetic evaluation provided useful tool to select the optimal supplier. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
