According to the application requirements of granary environment, short-range wireless transmission method is employed to design a temperature and humidity monitoring system of granary, which is based on Atmega128 microprocessor and JN5139 wireless data transmission chip. JN5139 facilitates the design of the node of wireless sensor network, whose ultra-low power and high integration help to reduce energy consumption. The node can not only monitor environmental parameters effectively, but also configure various sensors conveniently, thus having a strong versatility and easy networking ability. The experimental results show that the node of wireless monitor network, based on the ZigBee protocol, can be driven by 3v battery to carry out a single hop or multi-hop communications successfully, which proves the feasibility and validity of the system design. © 2010 IEEE.

Long-term operation of biofilters for biological removal of ammonia was investigated using compost (BG1) and sludge (BG2) as packing materials. At the beginning of the experiment, during the low ammonia load period, the elimination capacities of both biofilters were high and the ammonia removal efficiencies could reach more than 99%. With the increase of ammonia load, at the end of the experiment when the inlet concentration of ammonia was higher than 190 mg · m-3, the removal efficiencies of both biofilters decreased to 50%. The maximum elimination capacities of BG1 and BG2 were 288 and 243 g (NH3) · m-3 · d-1, respectively. Most of the NH3 removal was performed in the bottom layers of the reactors. Ammonia was mainly oxidized to nitrate. After long time operation and high load of ammonia, deactivation occurred in both biofilters. There are two possible reasons: First, with the increase of the inlet concentration of ammonia, large amounts of ammonium were adsorbed and accumulated in the packed bed, thus causing inhibition of nitrifying bacteria due to free ammonia accumulation. Second, the accumulation of ammonium and its products caused high salt concentrations, and the increased osmotic pressure due to the high salt concentration inhibited the activity of nitrifying bacteria.

This paper studies the relation in tail gas exhausts respectively from the public transport and automobile/car on urban roads under the combined traffic volume on the basis of the Vehicle Exhaust Street Canyon Regressed Model. The results show how the exhausts pollutants impact the roadside environment with the different road vehicle speeds and bus occupancy rate i%s. In a similar way, the FHWA model had been applied to the study of environmental impact by the traffic noise generated from urban public transport. On the basis of the two parallel companion studies, an integrated metric (I) in consideration of vehicle exhaust and traffic noise is put forwards to evaluate the environmental impact by the urban public transport. Through a case experiment and its study, it illustrates the impact between traffic noise and exhausts on hand and bus proportion and driving speed on the other hand.

The distribution of HCH (α, β, γ, δ-HCH) and DDT(p, p′-DDT, o, p′-DDT, p, p′-DDD, p, p′-DDE) in an abandoned pesticide factory site was studied, and its risk assessment was carried out. 232 soil samples were collected from the field 72 points of 0-400 cm depth. Analysis showed that the residual content of HCH and DDT in soil were 2.6-80 130 μg/kg and non-detected-54 350 μg/kg respectively, and showed the characteristics of vertical migration. Both HCH and DDT degraded significantly in this site. The percentages of HCH isomers were α-HCH(56.9%)>β-HCH(23.3%)>γ -HCH(14.0%)>δ-HCH(5.8%), and the percentages of DDT and its metabolites were p, p′-DDT(42.1%)>p, p′-DDD(27.0%)>o, p′-DDT(18.0%)>p, p′-DDE(12.9%). There is no new input source of HCH and DDT at the site soil. The site as a residential land development will not be adverse on residents of non-cancer risk, but non-carcinogenic risk to children is significantly higher than that of adults. At this site, there exists the possibility of cancer risk, and the cancer risk to adults is higher than that to children. Remediation and treatment was necessary for the soil of the site.

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), a prominent perfluorinated compound (PFC), has been widely detected in natural water bodies worldwide. In this study, zebrafish (Danio rerio) was exposed to nominal concentrations of PFOA (0.05, 0.1, 0.5, and 1mg/L) for 21d. After exposure, each fish was decapitated, and the spleen was removed to detect the expression patterns of P65 transcription factor, myeloid differentiation 88, relative interleukins (ILs), and antibody genes. PFOA can stimulate pro-inflammatory cytokine at a low exposure concentration (0.05. mg/L) and can inhibit pro-inflammatory cytokine at higher exposure concentrations (>0.1. mg/L). The results of linear correlation analysis indicate that Myd88/NF-κB pathway is one of the important pathways to mediate inflammatory cytokine (IL-1β and IL-21) in zebrafish spleen. Additionally, the relative mRNA expression level of toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) at 1. mg/L PFOA group was decreased to 56% of its corresponding level in the control. IL secretion disorder is possibly closely related to PFOA-induced TLR2 damage in zebrafish spleen. Furthermore, data show that the trends of PFOA-induced IL secretion have a relationship with Ig-secreting trend. This study demonstrates that PFOA can affect IL expression level through NF-κB, and ILs have an important function in the mediation of Ig secretion. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.
